'41 Plymouth Special Deluxe + '53 Ford pickup WIP

I think your concept is good for the seats, you’ve really nailed the foam look underneath. Perhaps you might be happier with using a thinner material instead of the paper towel. I’ve used Kleenex and tissue paper for this type of thing in the past and they seem to work well. They have a finer texture than paper towel and are more in scale, in my opinion. One issue I find is that it’s more difficult to reposition if needed as it has a tendency to weaken and tear when wet and also wrinkles easier.

I cut the pieces I need, dry fit them, lay them onto the plastic, then apply a white glue water mixture. The more complex the shape, the more pieces and sometimes you need to let one dry before applying the next.

That looks good Frozin. I had thought about tissue paper but was concerned about it turning to mush. I will try it on another project in the future. I am sure one will come about another time.

Moving on to the front of the Plymouth, I was able to get the radiator and engine sides put together. It looks properly boxed in now.

Still need some engine detail in there to finish up.

Well, that is it for this week. Next weeks plan is to finish the engine area and getting the body attached.

Well, I did not get anything done yesterday. Today I was able to get some plug wires on the engine.

Still need to paint them and see about some insulators as well. There will not be a distributor cap, so they are just going to hang there. Also starting to think about lose parts and debris for the interior.

Might be able to pass these of as some old hub caps. That is it for today

Let’s see, what did I do today? Oh yeah, worked on the finishes for the body. The chrome parts, although they won’t be to chromey after awhile.

More is still to come.

That Plymouth is looking like it has seen better days. Good work!

Thank you Dadofour, it is almost done. Then I can finish the truck.
Today however, is a day of starts and attempts. Still working on adding stuff to the interior and engine. I made an attempt at some Cola cans and a towel or shirt or just some type of cloth draped over the steering wheel.

In the engine I have the beginnings of a squirrel’s nest…maybe?

Finally I have dirtied up the windows.

Now there is not much room to see inside, lol

This is progressing right along and it looks awesome!

man, the weathering, the tore up seats, trash, dirty windows, it all looks outstanding.

Man, I have to tell you the finish that you’ve got on that is truly amazing. If you were to put some trees that are growing really close to it and photograph it outside, it would easily pass for a real car..

I do appreciate the kind comments. I think that i am going to call the plymouth done and start to finish up the truck next week. I do reserve the right to tinker with it some more if any other bright ideas should decide to bounce around inside my noggin.

Options, options, options…why do I do this to myself? Do I go with the kit truck bed, option one,

Or do I go with what I am making, option two,

On a side, I printed up some mechanics.

Nice file for under 4 bucks. Came with five figures and 50 garage accessories.

I like the idea of a flat deck / stake truck, but you’ve done a pretty good job already on the box and that green really looks good on the complete truck.

Apologies, I have been remiss in my posts this week. I have been working on the green truck and had posted a question on weather to use the truck bed or make a stake bed for it. Have decided to keep the stock bed. So I have moved on from there. I have the “glass” in place with the rearview mirror. I also have the dashboard in place. The front grill has been attached with a flat black background.

Plan to finish up the truck next week.

Looks like you need an old worn out tire under that engine to support it while transporting it. You don’t want to damage the oil pan or seal, end up with oil all over the inside of the truck box.

You are doing an excellent job on all of this. the weathering, the rust, and the clean truck all look amazing.

Lol, Frozin, actually just forgot to put that engine back in the box. Figured i’d let the truck do what trucks do and put it in the bed.
Hey Ctruss, closer to the end on this. Looking forward to finishing this off. Think about 2 more weeks then i need to work on the base and layout.
