I would like to see the difference with the .02 tip v’s the .04 tip.
looks like there may be enough fidelity to forgo the resin alternative.
Thanks. I really appreciate you reinforcing the things I need to be paying attention to besides just choosing the printer.
I’ve already decided that mine will live in the garage rather than in my modeling room. Fortunately, the workbench where I’m planning to put it is right against an exterior wall, so my plan is to install some type of ventilation fan through the wall, similar to a dryer vent, and exhaust the fumes directly outside.
The more I learn about resin printing, the more I realize that buying the printer is probably the easy part. 
Setting up the workspace properly for the resin, fumes, washing and curing is just as important.

Those are actually pretty impressive, especially considering you weren’t really trying to optimize them for the finest possible detail.
I can definitely see the layer lines you’re talking about, particularly on the tire and on the back of the cloak, but that little figure is better than I would have expected from a filament printer.
I’d really like to see the same two pieces after you print them again with the smaller nozzle. Since most of what I’m interested in printing would be relatively small 1/48 scale parts and figures, I’m curious how much difference cutting the nozzle size in half will make.
And if you managed to set the clock on a VCR, you’re already ahead of a substantial percentage of the population.
I have both a fdm printer (elegoo centauri carbon) and a resin one (mars 2). Since i do 1/48, resin fits the build for me parts wise. But i have used the fdm one foe plaques and such.
That name plate was printed with silk pla filament. For figures and enginesm I go for resin.
I use fusion 360 for simple designs, still need to upskill for more complicated stuff. Is a hobby in itself. There are places where you can download already designed 3d models for free or a fee.

How do you like the Mars 2? Have you been happy with it? I’ve been looking pretty seriously at getting into resin printing, probably with one of the newer Elegoo machines, so I’d be interested in hearing what your experience has been like.
I have to admit, though, your post raises another concern. I’ve been telling myself I need a resin printer because I want to do 1/48 figures and aircraft parts. Now I’m looking at what you’re doing with the FDM printer and thinking, “Well, I could use that too.”
I’m beginning to see where this rabbit hole leads, and I’m a little concerned.
That’s how it starts, next thing you know you’ll have a room full of them. 
This new flurry of quality resin and filament printing machines is a real treat for the hobbyists, or a potential stepping stone for a broad buisness approach, can’t say
its like a cheat code.
