2nd AFV Finished!!

As you might have guessed this is my second attempt at an AFV, built for the Battle for Germany GB over on the GB Forum.

It’s Tamiya’s 1/35 Panther G late, with Eduard PE, Jordio Rubio barrel and Friuls. All the handles were replaced with brass wire.

All the main camo colours are Tamiya acrylics, freehanded with a Badger 100. Being a wingy builder I Futured the whole vehicle, then applied several coats of diluted burnt umber water colour to all the recesses etc, followed up by a gentle dry brushing, using lightened mixes of the base colours.

I then applied a dilute mix of red brown and black to the edges of all the panels, finished off with a filter coat of very dilute Gunze ‘Sand’ , followed up with an application of pastels to the tracks, wheels and lower hull.

I know I’ve made a few ‘school boy’ errors, mainly due to my lack of familiarity with armour, but it’s not prevented me picking up Trumpeter’s KV2 and Lion Roar PE set.

All comments welcome.

Don’t knock yourself, looks really good. Congratulations on a nicely finished panther.

Regards,

Terry.

Looks Great! Only problem I can see is the white hatch, it should be dark yellow next time. Looking forward to seeing the KV.

You’ve certainly mastered the art of aftermarket spending. All that stuff must have set you back a few pennies. If you ask me, it was well worth it. It’s a beautiful model. I really like the weathering on the roadwheels and tracks.

Beautiful work,

Chris

Well done! You should come over to the “Dark Side” more often. Keep up the good work!

Fine construction, nice paint, subtle weathering…adds up to an A+ model for me! Excellent Panther.

Steve

Great job! The camo looks great! You did a very good job.

Excellent work. The wheels are very nicely done. Those tracks maybe should be drybrushed a little bit more with some metallic though.

Guys, thanks for the kind words and encouragement.

John, I’ll bear that in mind in future.

Chris, tell me about it. This baby ate two months worth of modelling budget, and cost twice as much as any aircraft I’ve ever built!

Steve, praise indeed coming from a master.

13b20, further excursions are planned.

Zokissima, I managed to cover much of the metalic dry brush when I applied the pastels! Next time I’ll touch in any highlights again.

Thanks again guys.

Karl
