Guys, thanks for all the kind words.
As you’ve probably gathered I’m more of a painter than a builder, and went with this rather dull scheme because of the challenges it presented.
As for the rocket racks, these are very easily done, just a base coat of Tamiya Flesh, followed by Future, then the application of a series of coats of dilute oils in various shades of brown, just dragging the brush over the rack to create streaks for wood grain.
