21st century models??

Hey guys,

I just went to Wally World and found some kits. They are in 1/32 scale and made by 21 century toys. The kits include the zero, me109,corsair and others.

Anybody know anything about these???

They retail for about $10

There is a thread where they were discussed a bit. I looked at one at the local Wally World. Someone here was going to build for the heck of it and let us know how they turn out.

I’d seen those too, and popped open the box to check out the Macchi 202 and Zero. (They were already open.)

They look pretty good actually, for a kit under $10. It looka almost like they simply took their existing 1/32 scale product and boxed it unassembled.

The plastic felt hard through the plastic, but looked pretty good to my eye. The detail looked good considering the price.

The fuselage and it looked like maybe the wings had screws to hold them together, and there were large holes to accomodate thse. But it was nothing that couldn’t be filled with putty I imagine.

Now, I’m no rivet counter, and will happily build just about anything, so I’m fairly forgiving. But it didn’t look out of line with the quality of what you see from many “mainstream” model companies that produce budget kits.

I’m gonna get one- probably the Zero. If they had the Corsair I’d drive up there NOW and get it. [;)]

Look around- you can find their already built kits too in Wally World. These will give you a good idea of what they’ll look like.

For me- I think it’s worth the shot. When I pick it up, I’ll post pics.

Hehe… Hyperscale reviewed their Bf-109.

Good pics.

I saw one of those! finally wally world got something new in their model sections. the ones at my wally world were open also, so I checked and I was surprised at their quality! I’m picking one up soon. as soon as I sell my fish stuff to Doom Grr (I am not willing to give up my model money for experimental planes)

hmm… I dont want the fig to come with two left arms…

“The surface detail - both recessed and fabric - is noticeably heavier than Hasegawa’s 109s, but not as exaggerated as some mainstream releases of late.” I wonder if he is indirectly denouncing Gradon’s 1/32 Mustang?

Hyperscale updated the review with pics of the completed cockpit- I’m sold.

They also make 1/18 fighters. I have seen the F-16 and F-18, wheathered, splotchy paint, and gun residue on them, and they look pretty good to! There is an article over on ARC in the Gallery section where somebody is modifying the F-18 with wing folds, dropped flaps, and a touched up cockpit, among many other things. Its pretty neat!
