Terry,
That is fantastic work. I love the attention to detail, such as the stream, rock wall, broken tree trunks and the spotter. Very nice work [:D[

I, for one, will not complain about the many pics. I especially like the inclusion of the spotter.
Very nicely done!
Thanks guys. Looking back on this one, I think one of my favorite parts is the MC rider who is getting stuck and is working through the soft dirt.
Terry
i too like all the pics. on dioramas like this you need different angles to see the work and a pic or 2 from the “soldier on the ground” level is always cool.
i know i asked before but what do you use for rock? i use hydrocal and molds whhich start out white than various WOODLAND SCENES paints. Only problem with hydrocal is it can get damaged easily.
i have hit the wall on everything but it will pass.

Wonderful job on the dio and build. Outstanding detail and I immensely enjoyed all the photos. Looking forward to the next one.
Hunter, Wayne thank you for those generous comments, these are so much fun to do and my biggest challenge to date will be a T Rex dio I have in mind. If that one works out I would be amazed but i’m trying something new (at least to me).
Wayne I do use hydrocal 90% of the time in Woodland Scenic molds, then plaster cloth to bring it all together. I’ve used different paints but I think the best paint out there is from Woodland Scenic. Theres so much pigment in it and the colors blend nicely. In this past year i’ve had some medical issues and I just couldn’t get in the right frame of mind to build, so I understand what its like but it’ll pass. What always helps me back to the bench is trying different things, space crafts, a 70 ton tank the size of a golf ball and even a dinosaur so i’d like to thank you for those things.
Terry
That dio is awesome. Thanks for all the pics. I even clicked through to the Photobucket album for more!
Things have got busy here at the homestead, as they always do with warmer weather, but I’ve got a flat coat in place on the Ms406 and it’s waiting for pastel weathering to begin. So close!
Terry, that dio is incredible! Very well done sir! I personallly think there were not enough pics myself.
Been having a tough time getting to my little project. There’ve been too many other projects I’m trying to get done first but I hope to get more done on this soon. Stay tuned for more.
Thanks guys, but I dont know how you can work on multiple projects at once. Ones like this take up a lot of time.
Terry
i do all the time but i am thinking of changing that. even though i don’t paint badly, at least for armor models, i have a hard time getting started which makes NO sense since i enjoy doing it this means i will have a queue of models built and primed.
decided to base coat JGSDF with Tamiya green and my soltar. been using a lot of Vallejo so i didn’t thin the paint enough and clogged the airbrush. dumped the cup into my Badger, thinned it more and painted. cleaned both and had air in the Soltar cup so had to strip that down more to successfully fix that.
while there i melted the rubber band tracksd for 1/35 S-tank which, of course didn’t take. fortunately it has side skirts so i wired the tracks together like i did on my T-72. becuase of the way things attach i have to add the track before finishing the lower hull hull and masking for the green camo.
oh and i am working on a base for 1/35 SKODA 305mm. siege gun. and a bunch of primed dinosaurs.
Terry, really nice looking dio there, love the base, great work all round.
Do you use the same molds for 1/35th scenes.
Thanks Bish, I have numerous molds for different purposes but for the most part they’re inter changeable.
Thanks again, Terry
Thanks. I want to start adding more detail to my dio bases and was thinking about useing the Woodland rock molds and pigments. They certainly look the part.
That’s what i use too. expect to have some pieces break coming out od the mold. i have a whole container of scree like that which works well for smaller rocks or smaller scales. the WOODLAND SCENES paints can be as transparent or opaque as you want and blending different colors is easy. i think they work best when starting with a white surface which thew Hydrocal is and it will absorb some of the paint which adds to the effect.
i haven’t tried anything as elaborate as Terry has.
Thanks wayne. I have been looking at some of their video’s and the paint does look very nice. I already have some of there Talus and plan on trying the paint on that for my 251 dio. But i definatly wnat to add some larger rocks to scenes at a later date.
They have the best scenic paint i’ve found and in the right colors.
Way to go Wayne! Keep at it man.
This week I managed to get back to my build for this Group Build.
The Gigant was finally painted inside and then the windows added to the cab sides and windscreen. Then I assembled everything together:
After this, I masked off the windows in preparation for painting. Speaking of painting, I shot a coat of grey over the lower part of the Mitrailleurwagen:
It was challenging, but I managed to get paint into all the little nooks and crannies without glopping up a whole mess of paint all over. This looks pretty darn good! Now all I have to do is finish some detail parts on the upper part of the trailer before I can paint it.
Well, that’s about all for now. Hopefully I’ll be further along on these this coming week. So stay tuned for more, comments are always welcome. Thanks for looking in!
DUKE Thank you. took 2 coats to get all the nooks on the underside suspension of the MCV. got side skirts on S-tank but sniffed too much CYA and am feeling it today. think i will knock out my OTS STV-103C. have both as STV-103B.
trucks are interesting with cab interiors and lots of windows. and i have 35 of them in the stash.
BISH i have to look but i think a friend of mine borrowed one of my molds and cast rocks using resin. he used it whenever he had leftover resin from other castings.
Duke, nice work there. I like the look of the Gigant, i have that one in the stash and not long done a Kora resin one, its surprising how big those trucks are.
wayne, thanks, would be handy to know that. I really need to need into resin casting to make my own parts, have been putting it off. But will be a handy use for any left overs.
