2009 in Review

In years past, we’ve posted our completed builds (or lack of) as a kind of modeling year in review. Haven’t seen anyone kickstart this here on FSM in the aircraft section, so I’ll go. In order of completion:

1/48 Tamiya FW-190 F8 - TD cockpit set, Aeromaster decals

1/48 Tamiya Ki-84 Frank - Ultracast seat, TD wheels

1/48 Monogram HE-111 H6 (IMS 3 GB) - Eduard Interior PE, Quickboost exhausts

1/48 ICM Bf-109 F-4 Trop - Ultracast wheels, Superscale decals

1/48 Tamiya FW-190 D9 - Aeromaster decals, Ultracast seat and exhausts

1/48 Italeri CR.42 - Mike Grant smoke ring decals, Eduard PE

1/48 Academy F-14A - Aeromaster decals, Aires ejection seats, Eduard PE

1/48 Tamiya F-16CJ - Afterburner decals, Eduard cockpit PE

And in progress, 1/48 Trumpeter HH-65C - Loon Models rotor blades, Eduard PE, Fireball Modelworks resin tail rotor and radome, Fireball Modelworks decals, Cobra Company resin interior conversion. Not sure if I’ll be able to finish this one by '09.

So, 8 completed builds for 2009. Not quite as good as last year but still respectable.

I’m just got back int the hobby in Oct., I’m almost done w/ my first model, probably finished very early next year…

This was a comeback year for me. I completed 1 kit in the spring of 07 and nothing for 08. So, to save myself from a really deep depression(having just spent $40K on flight school, and no prospects for a job), I started building again, just after checking out this site for the first time.

4. Modelcraft 1/48 F-82 lots of scratchwork and many curses(FSM gallery)

5. Trumpeter 1/32 A-10 (picked up “best of show”)

6. Pro Modeler 1/48 F-86 Sabredog, NMF GB

7. Hasigawa 1/48 F-104 NMF GB

8. Hasigawa 1/48 P-51d w/ Red Pegasus decals NMF and Air racer GBs

9. Not quite complete yet, sould be done by new years

All good stuff… Frankly, I can only report ONE build complete for 09 and it wasn’t an aircraft… It’s a Flakpanzer, so I’ll keep it in the Armor hooch…

There are several aircraft I’ve got in the 99% category though, but since they’re all slated for dioramas, some details are unfinished and won’t be until after they’re attached to the groundwork…

Seriously, though, I have a project that I hope to finish before the end of the year-I have off between Christmas and New Year’s-so I won’t post results yet.

I’ve been working this year under a New Year’s modeling resolution, too, to work only on a group of subjects that I had started over the previous years but never finished, I have a thread around here somewhere to show the finished works. I didn’t get nearly as much done as I had hoped, but it kept me motivated and focused a little better than I had been in past years. I’ll probably keep working on that list of kits into 2010, too, with some additions.

Great looking builds everyone[:D[ I completed my average of 4 kits this year. It’s been 4 kits a year for the past 3 years. Here’s my contribution in order of completion.

1/48 Hasegawa ME-109G6 with Eduard PE set, True Details resin wheels, and Eagle Cal Blonde Knight of Germany decals.

1/48 Tamiya Meteor MK1 with Eduard PE cockpit set. This was build for the End Game 46 GB.

1/48 HiPM HE-100D. Built out of box for Prototype GB.

1/48 Tamiya P-51D with Eduard color PE cockpit set.
