2007 2008 Formula One GB or ?

or Open wheel type race car

Let test the waters here. There are three of us that want to give this a try. I’d like this also to be a learning GB tips and tricks . Im always looking to pick up new skills and learn from other builders.

Whos in??? Looking for 10 to 15 racers

This will give you the chance to start the F1 kit you have put away or try a F1 kit for the first time.

I’d be willing to jump in, I’ve got a Ferarri F2000 that I’d like to slap together. This would be the perfect excuse!

Ok were up to 4

I have never built an F1 car before but want to try. The only problem is I have 2 1:12 bikes I’m working on right now and I don’t expect to be done with those for a couple months (at the rate I’m going).

You can count me in if you can handle the thousand questions I’m going to ask [:)]

thanks,

Erik

I’m in. Just need to decide what kit to pull out of the stash. Right now it’s a toss up between a Revell 2000 Ferrari, Renault or a CART Reynard.

Mark

I’ve got a 1/20 scale Tamiya kit, a Braun Tyrrell Honda 020 that’s been sitting on my shelf almost forever, looking for a reason to be built. Would be a nice change of pace for me, so if that car fits the criteria, then I’d like to join this GB too.

Ok I think thats 7. And questions are a good thing

I want to build the West McLaren MP4/13 F1 car. Would I be getting in over my head since i have never built a car before?

wolfpac, probably no further over than I’m getting. Been modeling for over 30 years, and could count the number of cars I’ve built on one hand. That is what I found so attractive about this GB…seemed like a great place to ask questions and learn as I go.

Tell you what wolf Im thinking thats going to be my next kit …I think great kit!! however if you have the first one or the re-issue??

Ive started a F2001 but the MP4/13 is a strong choice for a second build or if I could find one Id go with the MP 4/8

I will be buying the re-issue. How long before your F2001 is complete? I wouldn’t mind building the MP4/13 along side someone who’s built F1 cars. That way I can compare what you did and try to make my builds better.

I plan on getting this

and this

to go along with the kit.

and maybe this as well if I can find it in stock

I don’t know if you counted me as one of the three, but I’m in with JV’s 97’ championship car, and if the build lasts long enough and I can afford it I have ambitions to either do the monza 9/11 F2001 or a Studio27 248f1.

Wolfpac, having seen your bikes, you’ll be overly okay with the MP4/13! That was (in my mind) the first of the F1’s they made a bit easier to buils as well in that the rear wing is easier to assemble (more “solid” guidance) and so on. Don’t lket the paint scheme seem scary, it’s extremely easy to mask. You can’t go wrong with the paints from Hiroboy… I have the extinct original Jap version still to build. Was contemplating it a while ago, but decided not to go for it, now finding it’s a good thing, since it seems there miiight be a Top Studio detail set upcoming. But I’ve done two of them, sure some other guys did as well, shout for anything!

The one piece of advice I’ll give you upfront is to open up the bottom of the cockpit (it’s glued onto the Chassis anyways) big enough to fit the seat, etc in from below - obviously not too much! That way you can paint the cocpikt and nose area having allready glued and sanded it without worrying about masking the cockpit interior.

Dustin, when are we getting under way with this one? Will continue posting in the Auto Racing GB untill then, or should we swop over?

Wolf i dont think you have anything to worry about when it comes to you 4/13. My F2001 is going to take me a while ( after market stuff ) so a 4/13 will be squeezed into the middle, and that would be cool to build it at the same time and I have no dought you will be teach me things. by the way wwhere did you find that niffty West stuff at???

See… I really dont know when this is going to blast off… I watch both. I guess if were talking F1 will do it here what do you think??? Now i have to go watch pratice (DVR) I love Monaco So want to go there for a race!!!

I pulled all that off of www.hiroboy.com

You can get everything elsewhere with the expection of the Zero Paints. In all honesty if Zero Paints supply the body color for whatever model I choose to build I will buy it, regardless of cost. It’s that good and that easy to work with. If you are in the states I use the Duplicolor clear over it with Micro Mark’s polishing system and scratch X, makes it glow like glass.

Thanks wolf!!! Is it alot for shipping???( coming from )? Ever worked with finishers?

Shipping for me ran $9.95. This was for the Konica Minolta base coats (three paints) and the Telofinica Movistar base coats (two paints). Shipping from England to Florida takes seven days. They accidently sent me the 2006 Repsol base paints (five colors) instead of the Konica Minolta. Once I informed the owner of the probelm he immediatley sent out the correct paints. Since I plan on building the Respol I offered to pay him for them. He never responded to my two emails asking how much he wanted so I assume they are free.

I’m not sure what you mean by finishers. I’ve only used the clear coats, sanding and scratch remover.

Cool,

I think Ill have to give this a try for the 4/13 and I have a few bikes so I can finally paint those damn Hondas. Whats clean up like with the paint?

I guess Ill have to go talk to the wife about some funds

The paint is pre thinned and sprays through my Badger 100 LG without needing to be thinned further. I use Dupli-Color Lacquer thinner for clean up. There is also a two part clear you can buy but I am not to keen on mixing stuff like that. From the reviews some poeple love it, others hate it.

Preach on about the funds [(-D] I’m in the same boat.

Wolf,

Were would I pick up the Dupli Color clear coat at?? I know Ive seen it but I can think where. Also do you push it though your air brush?? And its not going to melt my decals is it?

I guess I can ask questions of you when it comes to bikes…I was close to completion on my 04 Yamaha but fired a part across rhe room and couldnt find it. I am still waiting for Tamiya to sent it to me…been four months told them I would pay for it.
