1990-1991 Gulf War 25th Anniversary Group Build

i have a couple of those saws too. don’t do a lot of resin yet (though i have a 1/32 CSS HUNLEY w/ interior in the stash)

comparison with DML 1/35 SCUD-B

That SCUD and launcher looks cool, Wayne. Manufacturer is new to me.

Ok Wayne, where did the badge with the General AND Saddam come from? I like it!

GREG - it is new. they only have 4 or 5 kits, some OTS towed guns, but the reviews on the SCUD have been good. i have a pair of DML 1.35 SCUDs so can’t justify buying a new one. supposedly some fit issues but i’m not overly concerned. now to find some arab soldiers.

. as for the badge STIK suggested it in a PM.

Yup. I figured since old Stormin Norman was top dog on the Coalition side and Saddam was for the Iraqis, a GB badge with the two of them would be appropriate. Sort of like the Monty vs Rommel one a couple of years back here.

I think that’s a great idea for the badge.

Wayne, would it be awkward of me to ask if you could make a larger version as well. I find they get distorted when enlarged.

Good to see people getting out of the gate and off and running. I’ve had a bit of an awful week during the runup to the start here, so I have not been able to get going on the T-55 yet. Hopefully things will turn around shortly, and good luck to all those underway!

I got pretty far today. The amount of interior that will be visible is next to nil, so just getting the kit parts together is good enough for me.

I added a floor in the main compartment just to make whatever can be seen in the side ports sort of reasonable.

I got the same kit, I probably will do the same as you when the time comes to build it, which wont be for awhile

Good to see you off and running, GM.

I’ve neither built a transport-type aircraft nor watched one being built. Looking forward to watching yours.

Nice to se you under way GM. Such a shame these aircraft are no longer with us.

Thank you, Greg.

Thank you Bish. I agree and I’ve never seen one in the flesh. My Yankee friends are going to have coffee come out of their noses when they see this thing built up.

I did happen to catch part of “Thunderball” on the TV last night. Always a pleasure to watch the Vulcan footage. I did once see a derelict Comet on the ramp at Munich, many years ago.

I also just ordered a set of decals from Model Alliance, for “Guernsey Girl” XV258 201 Squadron based in Seeb, Saudi Arabia. The Airfix sheet, while big, had a Corporate Nimrod, several from the Eighties, and Maid of Moray.

Speaking of Hornby. It may be me, but their plastic has gone downwards. I’m having problems with ripping and spalling while sanding. I really bolluxed up a sprue attachment point, don’t you know, midway back on the top of the fuselage.

hey BISH how big do you want it?

I swung by the LHS today after getting a haircut to pick up some strip styrene. I’m gonna scratch up some the field mod jerry can racks like on this BMP that some Iraqi vehicles carried.

That’s good reference, Carlos. Amount of detail could be intense.

Speaking of the LHS, tomorrow I am picking up two tins of Hu 168 Hemp, one tin of Hu 166 Light Aircraft gray.

We need a Buccaneer.

Ah, I’m keeping it simple… yeah I’ve said that before… But the kit has no opening hatches, link and length tracks, etc. It’s not a major endeavor…

Wayne, about 200 pixels would be great if that’s ok.

GM, ye, a Bucc would be nice. I was thinking about the Airfix one before I opted for the Chally. that Airfix plastic don’t sound god, is this a new tool kit.

Well, research gives her a warload of nine stingray torpedoes and one SAR raft kit. Kit comes with four torps and all kinds of other crap like Harpoons, depth charges. Gonna scratch up a bunch of torps.
