Serious eye candy!
Thanks John. This build is down to the home stretch for the most part. Stuff like figuring out the headlight buckets, final details in the engine bay, emblems and trim and all the like. The one thing that bugs me and I don’t know why they didn’t include one in the kit but it doesn’t come with an inside rear view mirror. I’ll find one from my spares box and make sure it has one.
Gorgeous. I always thought this Gen 2 style looked great in red.

Paint job looks great! Camera settings for sure made a difference
Thanks you guys!! I’m still working on this car but it’s down to the last few bits so there’s really not been just a whole lot worth posting. When I get this mostly together I’ll post a couple more progress shots before the finale.
lOk gang!! It’s update time!! After two and a half weeks without any progress reports, I finally have something worth taking photos of. Here she is with the stance that I wanted and the wheel/ tire combo.
All I can say is that this is one of the HARDEST car models to get the body over teh chassis that I’ve EVER dealt with. When I finall did manage to get it installed all the way into the body, the leading edge of the dash contacted the bottom of the windshield mounting tabs causing the whole front of the chassis to not seat properly. My fix was to trim the leading edge of the dash back until the body slid into the correct position. Total PIA but I got it.
Here are the results of the labor over the last few weeks. Almost to the finish line with this one. Aside from the dash/ windshield fit issue this has been a great kit to work with.
Aside from wheels and tires she’s looking very close to what I wanted the outcome to be.
OOOOH!
Wanna race? I will put my Judge up agin ya any day.Nah! Just kidding. That’s one Bi&*(ing Ride!
She looks really, really good. I too have had the issue with the tabs on the glass causing interference issues and I generally just cut those off and then install the glass with tape and test fit the tub and chassis to make sure the body sits where it should. The AMT 71 Corvette has this issue real bad. Great work.

This is looking really good, Joe! I told you that this kit is a bear to build, but you seem to overcome thise issues. Great work!
Thank you TB, Brandon and Mike!!
I’ll remember that about the 71 Vette Brandon and thanks for the heads up.
A bit more progress. Looks like I’m down to outside rearview mirrors, front and rear bumpers, radiator hoses, some minor polish and clean up and then installing the emblems and I’ll be all done with this one.
I managed to get the rear bumper touched up and attached this morning. Other items of this morning’s progress were:
-
Battery reinstalled. I had it installed prior to the core support install but it the core support wouldn’t install cleanly with the battery in place so…I had to take it out.
-
Radiator hose/ thermostat housing painted and installed
-
Alternator adjustment bracket re-attached. Just too much handling while fitting the chassis into the body. I figured there’d have to be a casualty along the way and I got lucky with just the bracket falling off. At one point during the chassis fitment into the body process I really thought I was going to ruin the whole build.
-
Cut front bumperettes from their sprues and currently soaking them in Easy Off. After cleaning them up I’ll treat ‘em to a good ol’ coating of Alclad.
-
Aligned the tail pipes (during the chassis install both pipes moved on me)
About all that’s left now is the light polishing on the whole body, painting and install of the outside rear view mirrors, front bumperettes install and then emblems/ badges application and we’ll be off to glamour shots.
Here’s a couple more teaser shots till then:
Looking good. I friend of mine used to have one just like this with a 454. Looked exactly like this one. Got stolen, stripped and burned. Cryin’ shame.

Rediculously outstanding Joe. What a beautiful Camaro you are turning out. Way to tackle the issues this kit has presented. You have done some real masterful work.
Perfect example of those pics people post to say “Real or Fake?” Quality of the build is so good, at first glance you cannot tell this is not a real car. Great job!
Nope, that is a pic of a real car, not his model. It has features the model does not; inside rear view mirror, door lock pulls, seat belts, diffreent wheels and tires, more definition around headlights, etc., etc., etc…
His model came out great, but that is not a pic of it.
Oh my GOSH man!! That would be TOTALLY frickin’ cool to have one of these with a big block sittin’ in it.
As far as the theif…I hope somebody got their a$$ whupped over that one.
Thank you Joe, James and Gino.
James: Gino’s right. Mines no where NEAR that realistic brother. I only wish I could build these to look something that realistic. lol
Now that is a great looking model! Outstanding paint job.
WOW! I wish that I could think of something original to say but I can’t. I agree with everything that everyone has said about this beautiful build. This deserves a first place award in every contest that it is entered in. Even though I don’t build a lot of car models, this is a goal for me to work towards.

Thanks Johnny!!
