Looking for some help from knowledgeable Mopar fans, please.
I am attempting to duplicate the early '68 that I owned eons ago. As best I remember to paint color was a metallic olive, or olive-looking green.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any pictures of the car, except in my head, so if anyone canpoint me in the right direction to finding a similar color I will be eternally grateful!
for what it’s worth, that’s the same color all thru the late sixties. What they called it I don’t remember, but I’ll find out in the morning (we have one in the family). There was also a dark green similar to British racing green, and think there was a lighter metalic green in a couple years too. In my family the color has been known as pickle green and just plain alligator!
I’d guess you were looking for Advacado or Mist green. Now you just need to find a close match or see if someone would mix you up a small batch of “touch-up paint”.
I you go the “touch-up paint” route, it will probably be laquer so make sure you test it on some sprue before painting your model, to make sure it won’t disolve your plastic. A primer base coat would probaby be prudent.
Thank you so much. After looking at all three links you listed I decided that the color I am looking for is “Avacado Green Poly”. I will post pics as soon as I get it Painted.
You know, I think my grandfather’s Dart was that color. I wish I had that car today, or my mom’s yellow and black GT with buckets and a 318. If only time travel were possible…
I know the feelin’. I don’t know how many times I wish I still had my Runner. Even tho it had the 383 with the 440 heads and all, it still got better mileage than a lot of the cars today. AND it was a lot more fun to drive.
Once again, thanx for the help on the paint color.
