1963 Buick Electra convertible

I can’t believe I finished this. I bought it in a job lot of unbuilt vintage kits years ago (about 10 years ago). It was complete except a missing windscreen pillar . I guess thats why it was never built. So I started [painting the interior whilst I searched for a another windshield frame . I tried modelhaus , and my parts box but realised I didn’t have anything. So I gave up myself and threw it back in its box with a painted chassis and partially assembled interior.

Then about 10 years later, a broken 64 Impala headed my way (well, it headed to the parts box as it was one that got badly damaged in a house move) . So a few weeks ago I stumbled across this body shell , and realised the windshield pillar could fit my Buick as its GM and 64. It was a perfect fit . So it took me just last week to finish the model off after all these years.

So moral of the story is, don’t throw anythnig way. That half crushed 64 Impala body which was useless as a bodyshell, saved my Buick .

Well done - and way to hang in there. That is a great looking car and a really nice version in scale.

This is indeed a great build, great back story and some swell photography. Turned out magnificant.
