120 mm schneider mk 78/09/31

Hello !

It is my first post/topic on this forum. I hope this is a right place to make artillery model  and You`ll be interested and satisfied.

I`m trying to bulid 120 mm schneider canon mk 78/09/31 whch was used in Polish Army up to outset of WWII. In 1939 Polish Army got some amount of these guns (38), most of them were used in 6th Heavy Artillery Division. They were based on French canons mk 1878 and widely modified in Poland. The curiosity is that the 6th HAD unit was motorised, whereas vast majority of our artillery was horse-drawned. Main Polish artillery trailer was C4P with 120 mm canon:

As if out of Polish equipment documentation standards I manage to find quite “rich” resources - round 10-15 good photos. There was problem with dimensions but I found some relations between 120 mm canon and 155 mm hotwizer (both Schneider). This gun is also presented in Finish museum.

Polish 120 mm gun (produced in PL, sold to FI by Germans), typical wheels.

Wheels are placed just temporarily (one is Polish, one French). Genuine ones were wider, so I need to install improved ones.

Today Ive starded to make barrel. Its a bit troublesome but it is only a matter of time and willingness.

If any of You got any photos of the canon from Finish museum, please contact me !

Best!

Jendrass, welcome to the forum.

Nice work there, very nice. It has been said here before, love the look of the white plastic. Means there is scratching build happening. Looking forward to more.

[snWcm] to the forum. Looks great so far.

Thanks guys !

Now I got serious problem with barrel lock (I don`t know how it is called in army-english) and connection between barrel and rest of the gun. As You can see there is some “open space” under the barrel, but under the lock and near by it there is some “connection”. I do not know how does this “conection” or support look like ? Any volunteers ?
