Here’s my latest project. Hasegawa BF 109G-14. A little late in the game for WIP, but better late than never! I’m using MM enamels on this one.
Glad to see you post this one up Tom. MM RLMs look great!
Looks great. Thanks for sharing. I’ll be following your work.
Joe
Oh yeah, one more 109! [proplr]
Can never have enough 109’s. Looks great
Thanks, guys. Here’s a couple more. A little weathering. I’ve found the silver pencil works best before the future, which is about to go on. after I get the black stripe on next to the yellow one. Round 2 on that! My old nemesis…Yellow, in particular, doesn’t like those in a hurry. Some of it decided to stay with the Tamiya tape when I pulled it off.
Pretty bad fuels at the end of the war caused some deep black exhaust stains. Tried that here. Thanks for taking a look.
Nice Panzer. I like the exhaust staining. For yellow, try Tamiya XF-3 Flat Yellow cut with 91% Isoprophyl Alcohol. Add a smidge of XF-7 Flat Red for something closer to RLM 04 Gelb. Spray it down, tape off your stripe(s), then paint your scheme. Tamiya’s pigments are very fine and cover very well. The alcohol makes it dry almost on contact and it wont build up. This is also nice if your concerned about bleed under. It dries too quick for this too happen.
It works for me anyways, here’s what it looks like…

Thanks Joe. That looks great! I do like Tamiya acrylics for their thin properties. I’ll try your recipe in the future.
Looking great so far. You most likely have sprayed too thick a coat for the yellow which caused it to peel along with the tape. I understand the dilemma: spray too thin a coat and the yellow wouldnt show. Spray too thick a coat and it peels. Have you tried spraying white before yellow to minimize coats?
I like that chipping you added Tom! Good luck with the paint touch-ups.
Nice paint on this one. Will be following!
Thanks guys. No more problems with the yellow. I didn’t base it with white, just the RLM 76 that was already there.
I used some polly scale RLM 04 in my paint stash. I put a light coat on it, then let it cure for a few hours. Another light coat. Then future. Then taped and sprayed the black Tamiya.
Nice! I love the look of any RVD Bands!
Looking great Panzer. Those defense bands turned out nice…
Joe
I got around to the decals today. No ‘Gruppe’ or kills marks on the right side. Gonna let these set in overnight, just to be safe, then coat with future. Flaps, Gear, antennae, an exhaust stack and more weathering to go. Thanks for taking a look!
She’s coming alive with the decals on now! These the Hase decals?
Yep! Stock, Hase decals.
Looks great!
