In 1942, my 1/104th CAV Regiment was converted; we lost the horses and got jeeps, M3 half tracks, M8 armored cars, and M5 light tanks. Eventually, we made it to the ETO.
I have an original copy of our 1947 veterans’ book “The 104th Cav. Reconnaissance Squadron, 1942-1945,” and it has a tiny photo of one of our M8 Grayhounds rolling into Germany. Would love to build a model of it, but not clear on the bumper codes.
We were attached to the 7th Army at one point, and also X Corps. So guessing the codes might be roughly X 104C on the viewer’s left front bumper? And then on the other, the troop and vehicle, i.e., B6, etc.?
I’d love to see original wartime photos but they seem to be hard to find? We got over late.
Would love any clues as to the bumper codes, also on basic late war (1944-1945) M8 greyhound markings- still the white circle around the star?
