1/96 Atlantis 727

As I have not be able to post photos here because of the way the old forum handled them I figured it was about time to show my work here. To start is a Boeing 727 kit from Atlantis that I built a couple of years ago. Was assembled OOB, save for the display stand which I added.

It definitely is a kit to build wheels up as there is no detail in the landing gear bays, and personally I think it does look better that way.

Nice to see a fine example of this kit built.

At its core, its not a bad kit. Old and lacking a number of details, but not bad. At the very least would make for a decent first kit.

Very nice build. I agree about the wheels up on the older kits. Sorry you had trouble posting images before, it is nice to se your builds.

This new platform definitely makes it easier to post photos without a third party image hosting service as I’ve had to use for years. Paint and decaling look just great on this puppy Chris. :v:

Looks great! Shows those kits can be built to a very nice model!

The system of requiring a third part hosting was a real pain to work with. What they have done with the new one is a fantastic improvement.

Over the years third party image posting just became second nature to use for me. No doubt I like the ability to post directly from our devices though.

That 727 looks amazing! You’re correct, wheels up is the way to go with these vintage builds. I’m so glad that Atlantis is bringing these “vintage” kits back and master modelers like you building beautiful displays like this with them.

Nice finish. White is so tough to get a good look. Building it in flight all cleaned up, it looks like it’s going a few hundred miles an hour already. I’m not familiar with the kit, but I like what you’ve done with it.

It is odd that Atlantis calls it a 727-200 as it is the Aurora mold for the shorter -100

Nice work there. I do airliners on occasion and really like those tri-engine birds.

Great looking build! A bit of kit history trivia: The Veb Plastikart 727 kit was essentially a copy of the Aurora Models kit.
