1:9 scale DKW NZ350 from Green19

Hi everyone,

I’m new to this forum, but I’ve been involved in scale modeling for over 30 years! In this thread, I’d like to showcase the build process for an excellent new model kit: the DKW NZ350, a German motorcycle from the Second World War.

The model is produced using 3D-printing technology with grey resin. Any visible layer lines are minimal and appear primarily in areas that won’t be seen once the model is assembled. The kit includes a wide range of optional components, such as metal parts, rubber and braided cables. The wheels—featuring actual metal spokes—are particularly satisfying, as are the included assembly jigs.

Soon I’ll present the box contents and the stages of the build prpocess.

Best regards,
Marudek

Welcome to the forums of FSM, Marudek! Sounds like a very nice intro into the forums, this motorcycle. It also sounds (bear in mind I am one cheap SOB) quite expensive.

Regardless, looking forward to seeing more. I’ve always liked motorcycles, but as I have lived a fairly non-risk averse life, I decided that having a motorcycle for real wasn’t the best plan for me. I tend to think, “I wonder if…” and off I go. Having a motorcycle would have been way too tempting for one of those less well considered ‘act now’ thoughts.

So I love them vicariously.

Welcome to the forum. Very interested in seeing this kit/build. I’m not familiar with the bike or the model manufacturer but it’s cool to see 3d printed complete kits starting to pop up. I do like a good bike build.

Welcome to the Forum. I’m looking forward to seeing your build. I retired from riding motorcycle after 35 + years. I’ve built several plastic bike kits over the years. Here’s some pictures.

Welcome to the forum! Looking forward to following along with your project.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the warm welcome to the forum. I really love how our hobby transcends all sorts of divisions.

I’m so glad I’ve come across a group of motorcycle enthusiasts. I’ve never actually ridden a motorcycle myself, but ever since I got my first 1:9 scale model—a Harley WLA—I’ve been hooked. I stick exclusively to this scale, either modifying existing kits or building them from scratch.

And now, I’ve stumbled upon a real gem! You’d expect a 3D-printed model with this level of quality and detail to cost a fortune, but it’s priced roughly the same as a military motorcycle-with-sidecar kit from Italeri. I bought mine directly from the manufacturer via Facebook Messenger—they offer free shipping within Poland. They also have a distributor, super-hobby (here are the links to the military and civilian versions). I’ve previously bought several 1:32 scale aircraft models that cost 3–4 times as much, yet weren’t nearly as detailed. I’m certainly not complaining that the price is on par with standard injection-molded kits!

You can see here just how well-packed the box is. I love kits that contain so many parts that, once you’ve taken them out, it’s nearly impossible to fit them all back in!
