1/9 Italeri Norton 750 Commando PR

Here’s the 1/9 scale Italeri Norton 750 Commando PR. My uncle owns a 1972 and he was delighted to see the model.

There’s a bunch of negative stuff to say about the model, in particular the comic pages. But all in all it is a pretty cool bike and certainly has a lot of detail.

It steers, the wheels turn and the shocks work too.

Sweet build, G! That yellow pops!

Nice ride, beautifully done Mr. Morrison.

Gorgeous build! Looks like the real thing. Have you built any other Italeri models?

Dave

Thank you!

I haven’t built any other Italeri motorcycles. This is apparently a rebox of a Protar kit.

It was actually really diffficult for a number of reasons, so it sat on the shelf of doom for a bit.

But it has working shocks front and rear, it steers.

It hwlped that I was relatively familiar with the real thing, but I looked at a LOT of photos online and “called a friend”, my uncle who owns two.

I added that metal frame around the base of the wind screen, it should be up on the plex not down on the fairing but that was too difficult.

I’d recommend the model for anyone who really wants a challenge.

My next bike at some point is the Tamiya RC 166 in 1/12. I’m hoping it will be easier.

Sorry, I’m late to respond, but that’s " AWESOME" !!!

looks good. i’m surprised more modelers don’t give bikes a try i like the fairing as it reminds me of Mad Max (toecutter’s bike)

Missed this first time around also. Very eye catching colour scheme, like it.

Great build mate! [Y] is it a standard yellow or a different grade? It really does pop! I have a few bike kits, after seeing this build has got me thinking about cracking open some. [:D]

Thanks for the comments, folks.

It’s the closest I could find to the Norton yellow, it’s Tamiya “Lemon Yellow”. Like car models, looking through Norton enthusiast forums yielded a lot of useful information.

The model has a lot of screws, probably a dozen each of a dozen lengths. That took a little organization.

But it was a fun build.

Great job on something that’s not built to death. Really good job on a hard color to apply as well. What did you prime it with prior to laying that beautiful coat of paint down?
