I am finishing up an old build of an A-10 Hasagawa kit, which was a decent kit, I think, but has raised panel lines. I would like to sometime do another, but with an updated marking in the gray rather than the older European green and dark gray. How do some of the other kits compare, such as Academy or Hobbyboss? I thought I might have even seen a Trumpeter?

I have a 1/72 Monogram Hog in the stash (Definitely Monogram–it has a stamp on it). How does that one build up?

The Monogram kit has been around for a while and represents an early model A-10. I enjoyed building it and didn’t have any major problems. I liked that you could show the left engine pod open to display the engine. (Of course being a Navy guy I closed it up and appropriated the TF34 engine for use in a S-3 Viking.)

Yep, the Monogram kit was quite nice for its time. Had one of the best 1/.72 pilot fig sculpts I’ve seen in a kit, though there was a cutout in its back to save plastic. I may be wrong (it was a long time ago) but IIRC, you could only build it with the gear down - if you wanted it retracted, you had to do a bit of creative remodelling.
You sure? Since all the single seat A-10’s in the Air Force inventory are the A model and the 2 seat OA-10A trainer/FAC aircraft.
