Old Special Hobby and very limited run style, not an easy build but I love the subject matter. Would love to see ICM bring this out in 1/48!
Grant, I built the A version of the kit because I worked on them in the guard for 5 years, before my last year when we got CH-47A’s. I’d like to see one in 1/48 too. When I was building the engine nacelles I felt like I was trying to put back together a broken egg! Yours looks great.
Yeah, they were a nightmare, I ended up cutting up the mesh and put in some PE mesh. The nacelles took up a lot of the build time. The real thing must have been impressive!
Another "happenin’ " build that turned out to be a good wrap up Grant. Do you have any pictures of the inside/ cockpit area of this one?
Mind blowing stuff dude.
No photos, but I did a build review on Youtube if you want to see it, look up Mojo Rising Modelling or C-37C Deuce build. I am no professional with video, so it’s raw and I’m just showing the ins and outs of builds.
I’ll be sure to check that out Grant!! Thank you for letting me know where it’s at.
I was crouching behind a parade stand when I took this photo, they would throw up to pea gravel when they lifted off. A fair impressive noise with two R-2800’s at full chat and standing still.
I have a web page for the Mojave (we really thought Buff was a better name but it was taken) here, with many detail photos including the cockpit:

Awesome pics John! A big beast for sure.
Fools that they were, toward the end of my tour they checked me out to do engine starts and run-ups in the thing. Somewhat scary, even though I had a fixed wing commercial license by then.
Hi, I built one myself and also replaced the mesh with PE.
I also scratchbuilt the cargo bay and modified the clamshell doors so that they could be opened. Spent a lot of time on this model, due to its poor quality, but it was worth.
Very nice, definitely a lot of work there doing that interior.
First off, welcome aboard Chris. Great to have you here buddy.
Secondly…THAT…is a modern art masterpiece. Some very good detailing stuffed off into that build.
Welcome, Chris. That’s a great build! Did you use this photo for reference on the doors? I have a web page on the CH-37 and worked on them in the guard.
Built both the Army and Marine Corp Versions; You would Think SH would have the Navy AEW Verson…
That’s A Version Speciall Hobby should have put out, Except it was Navy, Not Army.
Yeah, the photo may be of a prototype developed from an existing Army airframe. Certainly the Army would not have called it by the HR2S designation. It looks like the dome was the major visible change in the other photos I have, which are all of the same serial number. A person might vacform the “chin”.
Always thought this was a wild looking heli. Tonight I dove into the engines and drive train after you mentioned they were 2 r-2800s. Even wilder the way the engines are mounted atsomething like a 60 degree angle to the fuselage with drives going to the rotor. Whoa… but I guess that’s not that much crazier than the drive train for the H-19 or H-34
The side view shows the engine inclined in the horizontal plane, but I don’t remember them being that way. Here is a poor photo (On E-1 pay I couldn’t afford a light meter for my Praktica!) I took of one at school in Ft. Eustis, and a link to my pages on the CH-37. I spent 6 years around them.
