1/72 scale Zvezda La-5fn

Hey everyone. I just finished building Zvezda’s 1/72 scale La-5fn. Overall, it was a pretty simple build!

The fuselage and cockpit assembly went together with only a bit of sanding needed. The only problem I had was the pilot. His head is too large for the canopy! I ended up giving the pilot a flat top in order to seal up the cockpit.

Looking good so far.

A 1/72nd La 5, I bet that was one tiny model.

Well, better late than never right? I have had a pretty busy past few months here, and to be honest time got away from me. I also had most of my photos destroyed when my old phone decided to fry itself, not cool! I’ve managed to scrounge up a few photos of the La-5 (completed WAY back) and I’ll take some more in the coming days. You’ll be happy to know that although time got away from me in some aspects, my model building was not affected! I’ll see if I cant post some photos of a completed Wolf Man, an Fw-189 and a Sherman tank I’ve been working on.

Like I said, I’ll take some better photos of this thing soon, but here’s a shot of it completed.

Always liked those winter schemes on soviet aircraft. That’s a neat little build! [Y]

Thanks Mike! It really was a nice build. MUCH easier than that MPM A-20B I built. The only problem I really had with the La-5 was the figure. I glued him to the seat thinking there would be no problem…turns out I should have test-fit him! His head was too big for the canopy to go over the rest of the cockpit. I resorted to sanding his head down into a flat top haha. But the canopy fit and you really cant tell he’s got a flat head unless you look rather closely.
