1/72 scale Boeing 737

anybody know of any 1/72 scale kits of the Boeing 737 (any variant)??

Monogram made one back in the late 70’s you still can find them on E-Bay. Sometime they can get a little pricey

It was originally Aurora. Ive been looking for one for a while and they are real expensive.

Aurora, the mold from what I understand is still around and viable…just got to find someone to repop them. There was also a DC-9 and B727…the DC-9 mold was damaged beyond repair and destroyed. I’ve lobbied to have the 727 and 737 repopped…they were crude kits by todays standards but if the aftermarket folks jump onboard they can become spectacular.

Maybe I should give a couple of my friends in the biz to consider doing them…I know a couple of decal gurus too who could pop out some excellent sheets to go with them.

If someone would release…cockpits, wheel bays and control surfaces in resin…Whoopeee!

Hi, try Welsh Models, they do several variants of the Baby Boeing, including some modern ones. They are mixed media kits though and could be a bit tricky to put together.

Cheers, Chris

This could go even farther with after market goodies such as a conversion to the Navy’s

replacement for the P-3C; The P-8A Poseidon.

you read my mind, that’s the reason i’m looking for one, my uncle used to fly in p-3’s over in spain and i figure he could get me a lot of info on the interior layout of the p-3. granted it wouldn’t be the same as the p-8 but only the guys who work on them could tell the difference. also i have quite a few 1/72 harpoons i could swing underneath it

A P-8 was my goal too!

checked out the site and all i could find was decal sets

Great idea the only problem will be the size of the airframe the 1/72 scale out there now is the old kit talked about above it is based on the -200 series I believe the P-8A is based on the -800 series the length and the engines are different A lot of work but a great build.

Try this link:

true, though welsh models has a 737-800 series, the price is TBD though. scratch building the interior would deffinately be one heck of a build

Snipe,

Go to the site http://www.vpnavy.com There are artists conceptions of the P-8’s

interior, flight deck, and stores.

I’ve also deployed to Rota with the world famous RED LANCERS of VP-10…

Urich,

You are correct about the P-8 being based on the 737-800 but, it goes farther than that.

It also uses the 737-900 wing with back-swept tips instead of the normal winglets.

Prolly be easier to lobby for a kit of the P-8 than do a conversion.

Ray

Where’s the fun in that??? that’s like buying a project car already completed. especially since only the high-up navy guys and the guys at boeing know what it’s actually going to look like

Back in the late 60’s Aurora made a 737-100 model in 1/72nd scale. I believe it was in United Airlines livery. The detail wasn’t that great, but it had possibilities.I had one about fifteen years ago, but when my marriage crashed and burned, so did my model collection.
