After a few days now feeling very much under the weather I finally picked up some ambition and finished this little guy off. Here are some final shots that are my usual “okay, but not great” quality. Hope you like it.
I felt the need to finish something. I also tried out a new idea where I used some shiny holiday ribbon for the optics and vision ports. After some dull cote it turned out okay and I will use this trick again on future builds. It has a really neat effect and catches the eye nicely.
Not my best work, but it was fun to paint. Sometimes you just feel the need to finish something and get that itch scratched. Yes, I know there is nothing accurate at all about it. The camouflage is wrong, the odd junk stuck to the turret doesn’t exist, but hey, I don’t care. I had originally planned and painted this as an arctic type of tank and that crap on the back was supposed to be extra power generators and heaters. Now it seems closer to a bunch of satellite or com gear or some such junk.
Meh, I’ll leave it to you guys to interpret on your own.
LOL, my Dad knows lol. But these Revell kits are not known for their accuracy in the first place.
When I dug this kit out of storage it wasn’t finished and I had somehow lost the barrel. I scratch built a fairly convincing Vulcan gun instead and the idea was for an anti-aircraft setup and that bit on the back of the turret was supposed to be a type of radar guidance. It certainly looked neat, but then I found the Main cannon in another stash of parts and put it on instead.
Anyways, my arctic scheme didn’t work and it looked more like a super faded desert scheme so I decided a repaint was in order. I used Model Master OD and Italian Brown with a custom mixed acrylic Black-Green for the main color. I like the look of that color and I’ll be using it again as I made up a bunch of it in a bottle instead of my pallet.
Now I just need to dredge up another T-90 kit lol.
I don’t know enough about this tank to say whether its accurate or not, but it sure looks like a Russian Bad Boy. Nice job even with the “questionable” additions.
I like her, frankly I don’t know much about Soviet/Russian Cold War and modern hardware so I didn’t even spot the differences! Really nice work on the camo even if it’s not strictly ‘legit’.
Thank you Gamera. I didn’t add the reactive armor in the way it is supposed to be attached and the big gun cleaning kit tube on the back of the turret was replaced with a bunch of 1/24 spare auto parts lol.
