I’ve got this model on the bench at the moment and didn’t want a standard squadron markings aircraft so I decided to paint it in pre-delivery factory primers. Have been looking on a.net and cannot determine if some of the patches all over the fuselage are dull orange, terracotta or flat earth. I’m going to simply use Tamiya pearl green for base colour but does anyone care to guess the other for me.
It’s being modified for positioned flight control surfaces, engine trunking etc. (oh dear all this work and then comes Fujimi).
I just got to see a Raptor flying at the Marietta, Georgia, factory just the other day, without paint (they’re built in Marietta on Dobbins Air Reserve Base by Martin-Marietta)! Man, I sure wished I would’ve had my camera with me then. I could have taken many, many pictures from the road while that thing was flying. I’ll be sure to have my camera with me the next time that I know I’ll be driving by there (I live about 40 miles away). Sure wished I could send you photos of it.
If I remember correctly, there were a lot of pale green sections on it, along with many varying shades of metal, although that information doesn’t help you a bit without being able to show where the different sections are, huh?
I’ve decided on the Tamiya pearl green for base coat as mentioned but now scratching to find the terracotta or a dull orange which I think will get me as close as possible.
The pearl greel takes on different hues depending on the light which is consistent with pics I’ve found so far.
I’d like to be able to post progress pics but can anyone tell me how to - new to the site and cannot work it out. tks
