1/72 P-3 orion

Thanks Aussie, I actually was careful with the sanding and managed not to sand off any detail.

Oh Man, that is well done Mate. [B]

Your black basing technique is stunning. I’m going to attempt the black basing on a rather large 1/48 F-111E I’m putting together now. Wish me luck.

I’ve got Hasegawa’s P-3 which I someday plan to convert into a hurricane hunter.

I remember many years ago, shortly after my folks and I moved to the Hawaiian island of Kauai, a P-3 for some reason was landing at the civilian airport in Lihue and the pilot forgot to lower the landing gear.[bnghead] Needless to say, that led to an extremely abrupt and noisy landing. The pilot was okay but wouldn’t you love to be a fly on the wall when he got to explain to his superior exactly how he managed to wreck the plane?

Great job on 405. I flew her right after she got this paint scheme In 98 or 99, I’d have to check my logbook. The numbers were decals and started wearing pretty fast. The airframers eventually put some clear on top so, there was lots of actual silvering.

405 was an update 2 1/2. She was used for pilot training and trash hauling. She was a very reliable bird for VP-47. Barbers Point, HI was a great duty station for a young aviator. Your build brings back great memories. Thanks for sharing.

Wow that’s pretty awesome Lenny ! Thanks for the back story on the real steel.

That is a stunning P-3 B_0ne. Excellent work. Really cool subject. My experience with P-3’s was working with them on wildland fires as retardant planes. It was always quite exciting to call them in and watch them give you a low level drop. Thank You very much for sharing your top notch skills with us.

But I thought this was an all-weather plane? lol. Seriously, love it. Have been considering getting a kit of this myself.

yes it had a midair with another aircraft.

A friend of mine flew them. Super long time Down to San Diego and back, or up to Puget sound and back, or out to Hawaii and back, or a triangle of two out of three.
