Returning to aircraft subject matter this week with a look at Monograms F-4J Phantom kit in 1/72nd scale.
That’s the old Monogram 1/72 F-4J from the mid 1980’s. They also released it as the F4C/D. It’s basically a scaled down version of the 1/48 scale one and easily found on Ebay for cheap. I suggest ditching the kit decals cause they are very thick and better quality ones are available. It’s a very well detailed kit and like you said the pit is VERY well done.
I did this one a while back as a comission and built it wheels up on a stand with am decals.

Thanks for taking the time to post this preview,it surely helps on future purchases, especially online when one cannot open the box.
A tip from your Uncle Jay;
you can fashion the ejector seat handles by twisting yellow and black thread together (to get the spiral stripes) then coat the thread with Elmer’s glue ,let dry and voila you have thread stiff enough to form onto the loops required. If your thread is too thin, you can first glue a few strands of the same color together to make thicker “cable” then twist .
Slick method Jay. That sounds like an excellent idea specially on the larger scales. What I did on this one I carefully used my round file from the HF set to carefully thin the handles then painted them flat yellow. Once the paint was dry I used the xtra fine tip black Sharpie to lightly do the striping.
