1/72 "Lil' red Tomato"

Here is my Academy 1/72 ME 163 Komet I built for a GB. It was a simple out the box build and posed no problems atall, good fit and detail. The little tractor is a nice touch to the cheap kit. It looked a ted clean so I just put some “mud” on to look more “real”

It is painted in the markings of the first plane to ever fly a ops sorty (rocket powered). The pilot -Wolfgang Spatte was rather upset with the crew who painted the thing in “tomato red” as a sighn of their absolute faith in the plane ,after the filght he ordered it to be striped to the normal sceeme.

The model is depicted as having just been recovered from landing, hence no wheel dolley.

I dig it![Y]

The tractor adds quite a bit…gonna hafta get me one of these!

It’s like what my dad said about young adults and muscle cars… “If it’s painted in a bright color it doesn’t go faster.”

Interesting build! That ought to turn a few heads in a show!

I suggest the Komet would be clean but the scheuchschlepper would be muddy.

Wow cool pix, that is a big Li’l red tomato LOL!

I see the towhook so I assume it is purley a glider replica? Would be interesting to know how it handles and what the glide performance is on that.

Thanx for posting

I love that Academy Me-163. I have build one but have plans for four more. I have build the same red Me-163, it is such an attractive color scheme (WWII red baron). Here is my interpretation: also post flight:

The mud on the sleuchslepper looks good!

Very nice! I like the all-red scheme, and the tractor is really cool! Wonder if the tractor is available in 1/48 - it’ would go well with the DML/Dragon kit in my stash.

Very cool…The recovery equipment would not have been in gelb, however…
