One of my patients is looking for kc135 tanker current version, for a project. I think heller made one a few years ago. The question is there still a kit around, or do we have to go looking on e-bay Or are there a aftermarket conversion kit out there. Thanks for all you help everyone.
I took a quick look at a couple of the big on-line retailers and it looks like its been out of stock for awhile. You might get lucky if you look around some local hobby stores but ebay might be your best bet.
AMT made a KC-135A with the original J-57 engines. There are some aftermarket resin engine kits around. Both have been out of production for quite some time. Heller made a KC-135 which I believe was a R model with the big fat CFM-56 engines. That also is OOP.

I have an AMT KC-130R kit in the stash, the kit number is 8909. Have you tried the searches on Squadron or Great Models?

I picked up a Heller kit recently on eBay and if I recall correctly (I don’t have it in front of me right now to check), it contained both “the big fat CFM-56 engines” and the original 707 engines.
No success? As I replied above, it’s in stock right here:

If by “no success” you mean you don’t like the pricing, don’t want to order online, that’s not the exact kit you’re talking about, or whatever, then I can understand. But it’s definitely in stock there!
What he is describing is that the US Army has shut clamped down on internet access to alot of websites that we civilians have access to. So he is truly stuck unless someone can send him a saved copy of it.
J-hulk. I sorry, for the misunderstanding. Thankyou, for the link, as rich said, internet access is limited. We are a combat support hospital located in Iraq. We just start a hobbyclub for soldiers, marines and other personnel stationed here. I have been trying to located requested kits for my patients or other junior enlisted. I have purchased kits for my patients, my goal is to get them what they ask for. Again, if anyone has one, they don’t plan on building soon, please let me know @bruce.wheeler1@us.army.mil. Thanks again.

I have what I think you are looking for. I have the Esci/Ertl KC-135A. It’s the Desert Storm version.
It has decals for two versions. I would feel proud if you would accept it as a gift from a fellow modeler who is very proud of the Armed Forces and what all of you are doing. Please send me your mailing address. I will open the kit and wrap all the parts carefully before shipping it to you. I ask one thing. I would like to see a photo of the completed model. Gordon
Ah, OK, I gotcha! I can see the whole picture now.
Thanks for your service, and good luck finding the kit!
Gorden is onto something…If Armyrn were to post a thread here requesting kit’s for his support unit, I sure it would be greeted with a great response.
I really don’t think it would hurt anyone of us to pull out one or maybe two kits from our stash and ship it overseas to help out the Doc and his patients, can’t think of a better cause to help out fellow modlelers. Might not hurt to include a tube of glue and maybe some paints too. I’m in if I can get the unit APO address [^].

I mailed out a box of kits and supplies this morning and learn from the Post Office that I can call (800) 610-8734 then press #1, then #1 again, then press #2 and ask the customer service rep for the “Military Pack” and the PO will forward 8 boxes along with tape, labels and packing material as a free service for familiy and friends to support the troops when mailing items overseas. Takes about 7-10 days for the boxes to come in. This will come in handy when I send out another box over there.
Capt Bruce Wheeler can still use any availble kits or supplies for his patients if anyone can spare to send a kit or two to help out a fellow modeller. email me if interested and I will send the APO address.

I mailed the KC-135 kit and all the modeling supplies needed to build it earlier this week. I don’t mean to sound corny but getting the supplies needed and sending the package to Capt. Wheeler gave me a great feeling. It’s the least I can do for what he and others are doing for us.
Since posting my last message I received an e-mail from Capt. Bruce Wheeler. I mailed the kit on Monday and he received it today (Saturday). That’s fast service.
I would also be willing to chip in a kit or 2 to send over to those guys and gals in Iraq.
Regarding the KC-135 kits from AMT, they released a few different variants of this kit. The first was the KC-135A, then a “Recce” RC-135V hit the shelves and then the KC-135R was released. Having spent several years working on these old warhorses, I enthusiastically picked up every variant AMT released to build and add to my collection.
And to the Moderators, maybe we can sticky this thread to let everyone know how to support our troops by sending kits and supplies to them while they are deployed to Iraq. In my opinion it’s the least we can do for their ongoing sacrifice.
I received another message from Capt. Wheeler. The wounded airman was transferred to another medical facility for further treatment the day after the kit arrived. The wounded man was pleased. Capt. Wheeler’s words were: “The look on this airman’s face was priceless when I gave him your gift.” I glad I could help out.
