Well, I have actually been building the past few months, just not posting anything!
Being a “Tiny Towner” I viewed the release of the 1/48 Tamiya Fw-190A-8/R2 with much envy. I had also picked up “Luftwaffe Sturmgruppen” by Osprey so I was pretty psyched to do a “Sturmbock”. Airwaves actually makes a PE set to do this but since this aircraft didn’t have blinkers I decided to save them for another project. Conversion was simple, sand down and fair over the cowl machine guns and add some cockpit armor from sheet styrene, Aeromaster has a template for the pattern of the armor which worked out well. The outboard Mk. 108’s were done with brass tubing and the inboard 151’s are hypodermic needles. Some wire to improve the antennas and that was it. Decals are from Revell (mostly), which were OK, but the “Raubautz” script is incorrect. I also found a picture that shows no red lower cowl on this aircraft (after it was painted naturally) so that may be incorrect as well. Fit on the kit was excellent, typical Hasegawa, no filler required.
