I told both my bosses I wanted to build an F-16, F-35 or F-22 for each of them for a thank you for hiring me (short term) and complete them before I leave for Boise. One of them wanted an F-35 and the other wanted an F-16. I purchased the 1/72 Hasegawa Block 50 and also bought some external stores kits to load some Ratheon equipment.
I am fully aware that they do not load 16s this heavy and rearly with this little fuel but he said he wanted it loaded so I went full bore. I installed GBU 10s on the inner hardpoints, TERs and GBU 10s on the mid hardpoints, AIM-9 Sidewinders on the outer, and AIM-120 AMRRAMs on the tips, all manufactured by Raytheon. I also installed the AN/ALQ 13 and 14 LANTIRN pods. I was going with the 35th fighter wing but the tail markings were damaged during handeling so I went with the 20th FW tail markings. I apologize to anyone associated with either fighter wing but my boss won’t care or likely notice.
The kit was standard for a 1/72 Hasegawa, decent detail, very little flash and few seams. I built it OOB and like I said earler, I also used parts from Hasegawa’s Aircraft Weapons set’s VI and VII. The AIM-9’s and AIM-120’s came with the kit.
I black based it using Vallejo’s black primer and painted it with Model Master enamels.
Looks good. That’s a serious loadout, though as you’ve already noted, unlikely. The only other issue I would have with the loadout is the Sidewinders, which appear to be “J” models. These are long outdated, with the “L” model entering service in the early 80’s and subsequent models following.
Thanks Phil, yeah, that’s what came in the box…I’m pretty sure they came in the box, I have a few newer models bouncing around here somewhere. The boss is unlikely to notice those either in any case. We build PC boards for systems internal to the 16, so no one there is familiar with the weapons systems. Most employees there don’t even know the diffrence between a 14, 15 or 16. I’ll load the newer versions I have on my own Viper at a later date. That one will be loaded out more realistically. I do have the Hase air to air weapons set as well but didn’t want to break into it for this one.
LOL I told him all it can do is go to the target drop everything and come straight back. No loitering and maybe a refuel on the return. In fact, I’m not entirely sure it can get very far before droping the GBU12’s and loosing 4000 lbs
