1/72 Corsair Mk. I almost finished

There weren’t many decals to apply, and it probably didn’t take half an hour to finish them. I didn’t even need to reheat the water !

The Sky Models sheet didn’t include stencils or prop logos, so I used the ones from the kit. The roundels really conformed well to the fabric surfaces of the Corsair’s upper wing.

I use a magnifying lamp with a flourescent ring, and it died while I was painting the exhausts (hence their shoddy appearance). I can’t get another bulb until Monday, so all my building will cease for a day. I feel the withdrawl already !

Even with the delay, I’ll probably be done with this one during the upcoming week.

Nice work as usual Bill. Hang in there… Monday is just 14 1/2 hours away[;)]

Very nicely done! What are the colors used?

Just visited your website! What exceptional talent!!! Your kits are truly masterpieces.

Looking good Pix! Ever think of posting pics over in the FAA GB?

I envy your camo job, nice and smooth and looks great on the Corsair! Nice one for sure!

Nice build Pix![tup]

I have one of these in 48 scale to build in the near future, very inspiring!

Nice looking build as usual Bill. I’ll be looking forward to seeing the finishing touches put on her.

Cheers

Thanks Marc, claudez, Daywalker, Eric, Darren, and Darren ! (Is there an echo in here?)

Marc - not soon enough, but at least most of the waiting is over.

claudez - I noticed that you’re from “Katrina country.” Hope you came through all right. I haven’t updated my website in almost a year, so there’s a lot of stuff missing. It’s all on my Photobucket account, though: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v280/Pixilater/

Daywalker - there are so many group builds that I can’t keep track of them. I have a lot of work to do between the commission jobs (4 in progress, 8 waiting) and my own (only one at the moment). The urge to join the groups is strong, but it would be too easy to get carried away. Got to put my time & energy into the work for which people pay first.

Eric - no need for envy. Most double-action airbrushes will paint lines fine enough to do freehand camo. You need to experiment to learn the telltale signs of too much/not enough pressure, thinner, and distance from the surface. Once you learn what’s off, corrections will lead to success.

TANGO - don’t forget to clip the wingtips. Cut just outside the lights, and sand the contours. The wingtips and camo colo(u)rs make for a very different Corsair.

Thanks again ! I’ve got to get to Home Depot for a bulb now.

Roger that.[;)][tup]

Hey Pix,

Katrina was rough on a lot of people but we were lucky. (only lost trees and fences). Thanks for your thoughts. You truly have phenomenal abilities in plastic. looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Claude

Great Job [8D]

Man, I don’t know how you do it, pix! Scale, subject, complexity of the kit…it doesn’t matter. Your work is just amazing! [tup]

You never cease to impress me. I’ve got a 1/72 kit from Testors (will be having fun with AM and experimenting on it) and the 21st Cent. 1/32 Corsair. So tempted to start one after seeing yours.
