This is the first of 4 builds I was working on. It is an Academy 1/72 YF-16. I will use this as a PSA, don’t waste your money on that kit, it sucks. Horrible fit, no detail, panel lines that are shallow and fade to nothing. I forced myself to build it as punishment for buying it. I won’t do that again. The instructions were terrible. Very little info on the plane and the painting pics were so poor I could not tell if it was monotone or two tone. I had to look on the web and find the real plane to see what it looked like. The box art was not the same plane and the pics on the box was a whole different load out that the kit didn’t even offer, not even close. This kit is a total joke. Here is the only pics I could bring myself to take. I tried to weather it and the detail is so poor it wouldn’t take. It makes and okay 50 footer, but no closer.
Well, it came out ok. You wrestled it into shape. I’m pretty sure that kit is a clone of the mid 70’s vintage Hasegawa kit. I always love that camo scheme on the F-16 and F-17 prototypes worn during the fly off competition.
Boy, this kit came super close to going in the trash. I appreciate the kind words. I love F-16’s but this kit was a huge let down. 1/72 isn’t really my scale anyway. Hopefully, my Hase 1/48 is a better kit.
Here is the box art. This scheme wasn’t even an option on the build or decals and the loadout is not availble in the kit.
