Hi Folks - Here is a few images of my P-51C Mustang from Academy in 1/72 scale.
I am very happy that I got this model completed in time. I wanted to make sure that the tradition of getting a model done just before New Years is something I can do this year and in the years to come.
Wish you all a happy modeling New Years!

Target of Opportunity
From the start, this project was some sort of “target of opportunity” as it was simply a model that I made to “kill time” between larger and bigger builds.
Scratchbuilding
A diminutive model, the only major scratchbuilding was the flaps which I modified so that it shows in the droped position.
Surface Detail
I bought this kit for only $7 dollars but I was amazed how the model offers some really fine surface detail. At this scale and price…a great bargain!
Decals
Academy gives you decals for three aircrafts and plenty of stencils. If you ever wanted to buy these, get the ones in Academy’s new boxing. The decals are thin, in-register, and works well with Revell Decal Soft.
Cockpit
The cockpit was pretty much standard Academy but it was all I needed. The only small thing I added was a bit of seat harness wich I made using masking tape and stretched sprue.
Vignette
The vignette is a “generic base” that I use for my model photo shoot. the jeeps, trucks, crates and oil drums are all from Academy 1/72 scale accessories.
