1/600 MPC HMS King George V..........COMPLETE!

Painting all the deck fittings on this kit is the nautical equivalent of Panzer IV road wheels in any scale.

I think this kit is nicely detailed considering it’s age.

Awesome!! I love the scheme and your deck color looks great! Do you mind if I ask what color you chose or was it a custom mix?

So that’s what it’s supposed to look like. My friend gave me his 35 years ago and it was painted in red and black. LOL

Nice to see what dedicated work will do to a build. Nicely done. I also have never seen that camo before.

Thanks. The deck color was good ol’ Testors ‘deck tan’,straight out the bottle! That’s always been my go-to color for decks.

Thanks.I simply followed the instructions as best I could with the colors I had.I would have preferred a lighter grey, but just didn’t have any in the paint stash.

Some modelers on another forum think this might not be a camo scheme as much as a combination of several different paint jobs. The most recent weathered to the point where underlying coats are visible.

Here’s a link to the discussion. It includes some photos and line drawings that would be useful in attmpting this scheme.

Beautifully built and finished. This is one of Airfix’s best Ship Kits and you have done her justice…Cheers Mark

Thanks. It definately is better detailed than other Airfix offerings. There might even be a current reissue out in places.

I do 1/700, so I hear you about the deck fittings, but doing them by hand is a tiny bit less frustrating than trying to mask around all of them. I’d say your King turned out justtttttttttttt fine!

Nice job! Are you planning WEM photoetch? Also, I just saw in the latest Airfix newsletter that this kit, along with their Repulse has been re-released.

Bill

Thanks.I’m gonna save the PE for 1/350 kits. The 1/600 stuff I’m doing is for practice.
