1/600 Airfix Endeavor question

I picked up an Airfix 1/600 Endeavor off of ebay recently to add to my selection of small scale sailing ships.

I was quite surprise to get this large package in the mail an inside was a large model that is clearly marked ‘1/600 Constant scale Kit’ but is anything but 1/600 scale.

It apparently is approximately 1/120 or 1/130 or (?) or so.

A couple of pics to show what I mean.

Am I missing something here? How can any manufacturer make that much of an error on scale?

I’ll keep the kit because I only paid 10.00 for it but I was hoping for something a bit smaller. Does Airfix (or anyone) actually make a 1/600 (or smaller than 1/120 or so) scale kit of the Endeavor? Anything similar in scale to the old Pyro/Lindberg HMS Bounty?

Airfix Craft Master was a rebox line from 1958-1968 sold in the United states. The reboxer of this kit was MPC. I suppose they were capitalizing on the very successful and true scale 1/600 Airfix Classic Ships Constant Scale brand.
