1/48 X-1B

Yes, decided to tackle this. I had to scrape all rivets off, scratch build the cockpit. I used seat from F-80. I used Eduard 1/48 X-1 for gear. I used aluminum tube for pitot tube and vents in back of plane. I thinned down all doors and especially front of vertical tail. I used Alclad II and Floquil Bright Silver. Shawn G.

Pretty cool. Nicely done

All that hard work really paid off. That’s a beautiful build!

Really nice build. That brings me images of The Right Stuff.

Chuck Yeager: Hey, Ridley, ya got any Beeman’s?

Looks great!

You didn’t say, but I assume you started with the old Strombecker kit, yes?

Sweet NMF!! Very nicely done. You ought to bring some of that magic over to the NMF GB that just started. =]

Yeah, she looks fantastic! Great job!

Gorgeous! The NMF looks just right. Well done.

Beautiful natural metal finish!

Yes Paul, it is the “new” release from maybe 2 years ago. I couldn’t remember the manufacturer.

Thank you for all comments. Shawn G.

I still have a Strombecker kit I bought while in High School…you did a great job on the re-issue. [:P] As a matter of fact, I was unaware a the kit had been re-issued ! [:O]

Yes, Glencoe reboxed the old Strombecker kit. Don’t know if they did any improvements.

Thanks for the info.

I will check for the kit during my IPMS swap meet visits but will be surprised if any improvements were made as the Glencoe re-issues I have purchased in past years included updated decals but made no other improvements.

I simply do not wish to build my original kit.

Same kit, great decals. Nice work, I plan to try to do one.

Yes you are right on the money, the kit is NOT updated except nice decals. Shawn G

That is really neat, excellent.

Great looking plane!

Congratulations!

That is a relly nice build, love the finish. Great to see one of these.
