Here are the final pics of my 1/48 Tamiya F4F-4 Wildcat, which I built for the WWII Carrier Aircraft Design GB. As most of you probably already know this is one of Tamiya’s best kits. The fit is excellent, fantastic detail, crisp moldings and no issues that I can think of. The landing gear can be a little fiddly, but as long as you’re careful and pay attention to the directions you’ll have no problems.
The pictures were taken with my new digital camera that I just bought yesterday, so I haven’t quite got the hang of all the ins and outs of it in order to get the best close up pictures. [:I] The flash makes it appear shinier than it really is, in normal light to the naked eye it’s all pretty flat.
I originally put the striped decal on the tail, but it looked like hell with the edges sticking out past the part so I stripped it off, sprayed the rudder white, masked and then sprayed the red. First time I’ve done that, and it was way easier than I thought it would be. [:)]
Very nice, Scott! I love how she’s displayed with the other birds. The machine gun stains are very nice and subtle. The picture of the front view really shows off the engine, too. Nicely done.
