1/48 SBD Accurate Miniatures Vs. Hasegawa

Ok guys, I have yet to see the SBD from AM how does it stack up against the one from Hasegawa. I do have the SBD 3 from Hasegawa. So I was just curious as to which was a better kit.

I got the AM kit a few months back on sale and I am VERY inpressed with the detail and molding. Hasegawa is great, but I lean towards the AM kit. Its worth the money.

I have both and have yet to do either yet, but in my opinion I think they both are great kits. But again thats only my opinion.

I have built both, and I definately favor the AM kit. The cockpit features more detail, and the flaps are perferrated & can be dropped. Interestingly, I noticed that parts from one (like the canopy) would not fit the other.

I’ve built both and the AM kit has far better detail but is a more difficult build than the Hasegawa. The AM kit has a much more detailed interior and perforated dive flaps that can be posed open. The Hasegawa builds up easier, but the molded in dive flaps let it down. There is a version with replacement photoetch flaps, but that requires some major surgery.

I really like the AM SBD. If you are careful and follow the instructions, it is not as tough to build as you may initially think. It goes together fairly well and builds into a very nice replica of the real thing.

As far as the Hase kit, I don’t have one, so I can’t really make an accurate comment on it.

I built the SBD AM kit a year ago. Been a fan of AM kits ever since. Cannot wait for their Vindicator to come out.

I’m building the AM right now.
About 3/4 done.
Great kit.

The AM kit is a great build. Hasegawa’s kit is good, AM’s is better.

BY the way, when is the AM Vindicator supposed to be released?

Soon I hope.
