I actually built all 4 kits in a couple weeks between July and August of this year. The other two TIES are actually from the original 90’s boxing Imperial TIE Fighters kit. All the actual in progress photos are on my phone though. The Round 2 kits I painted in Vallejo PRU faded Blue gray and using a wash of Tamiya black panel line wash. The two AMT kits were painted in Vallejo USAF light gray using the same wash.
I was actually going for the screen accurate look for A new hope and Empire/Return of the Jedi and I think I came pretty close to the look. I still need to finish the kit base for the Imperial TIE Fighters set.
That’s awesome! Could we trouble you for a closer look? Great job reflecting the colours from the first two films!
I’ve built TIE’s at 1/144 and 1/72. At 1/144 I was thinking “Yeah fair enough… The size looks about right”. At 1/72 with some point of reference against WWII planes and armour one starts to get surprised at the size of the “structural footprint”. But at 1/48 they’re getting pretty big, and your builds look every bit of it!
Good thing I have a modern computer finally can put the photos on my phone onto here because of One Drive.
Some photos of the cockpits and the pilots from the Imperial TIE Fighters set.
I did this for the TIE Interceptor kit removed the laser tips and hollowed them out not 100% accurate but a feature only found on the TIE Interceptor filming miniature.
I’d love to see a closer look at the finished model. Do you have any more pictures of it? It looks like you put quite a bit of work into it.
