1/48 Revell "The Spirit of St. Louis"

Actually is a kit decal. Though I wish they had overlapped the swirls rather than left them side by side.

Kenjitak, I ate that cereal too just to get the Spirit. I remember that I didn’t particularly like the cereal but I wanted that plane. Remember getting a total of 4 before they discontinued it.[sigh]

Hey Jim,

Do you remember what kind of cereal that was? I’d have to guess it was something like Rice Krispies?

BTW, Steve, that’s a fine build!

Here are a couple more final images. Note the extended periscope and the extra ribbing added to the belly of the fuselage. there are also so added ribs on the spine of the fuselage as well

The next two - show the machined cowling decals to good effect. As mentione previously I just with the artist had overlapped the swirls instead of putting them side by side.

Excellent work Steven! I do see what you mean about the “swirls” on the cowl. Too bad they didn’t overlap them. Thanks for sharing! [tup]

Ken, I think you are right about the Rice Krispies. I know I didn’t like them but my mother didn’t buy cereals with sugar on them.[yuck] Did you open the box and shove your hand all the way to the bottom, through the cereal, to get the plane (or other item) like I did? Now I HAVE to eat without sugar.[sigh]

My mom poured the cereal out into a big bowl so I wouldn’t crush all those little krispies. My dad was going to make me wait until we ate down to the that level of the box and the plane came out by itself! It was sposed to teach me patience. I remember it came in a little cellophane packet, was molded in silver plastic. I’d buy cereal again if they put little kits in them; what memories!

Ken, my mom tried to make me wait a few times but my dad took the plane (or something) out of the box when he got ready to go to work at 5:30 AM and put it into the lunch bag mom made up for me in the “Ice Box” for school.[8-] Those were the days.[#toast]
