This was my test bed for the Steel Beach RA-3B conversion. I was going to do the three-tone gray scheme, but opted for the black scheme this go-around. The decals are from the Furball sheet. I’m really liking the Trumpeter A-3 kit. There are so many variants that can be done that are interesting and out of the norm.
That’s a sharp looking build, nice work!

I like it! One very unique looking Skywarrior. The overall black is sharp!
That’s very nice, a cool paint scheme as well. I’ve always liked these birds, weren’t they the largest carrier-operated aircraft? Did their wings fold?
Gary
That’s a good looking whale!! Keep up the good work!!!
I haven’t seen that scheme. Nice work.
Great looking model. YES the wings fold at about the area where the flaps and ailerons meet. I think you are right about it being the largest carrier aircraft, but you have to look at the A-5, E-2, and the Greyhound. I know the F-111 was rejected by the Navy because of its size and weight. Interesting question. NAVY guys?
My dad was Aircrew with VQ-2 on an EA-3B and yes the whales where the biggest airplanes to operate from a carrier, hence the nick name “whale”
Would you believe a C-130 once landed and took off from a carrier? Sounds like a diorama waiting to happen…
Cool scheme!
