Phew! First one done in almost 2 months! The Mauve kit is not an easy one but a nice kit nonetheless. I picked this one up in a trade including resin and PE. There was a slight warp in the fuselage, as well. The decals are aftermarket and I had to choose this scheme after seeing it in the Squadron P-40 Warhawk In Action book as a color profile. Certainly not my best, but I love P-40’s and am happy to have it next to my B and E variants on the shelf.
Nice work on the P-40. That is quite a spectacular paint job.

Nice paint job on your P-40N, Charles. I’m sure it looks fine sitting next to your other P-40s.
Very cool build[Y][Y][Y] thanks for sharing…
[dto:] I really can’t add anything that hasn’t been said, however, I will-good job on a difficult kit. Great paint work too.
Nice work Charles. I’ve not built the Mauve kit but have heard it can be a test at times.
And I know what you mean about having a tough time getting builds finished. I barely get any bench time lately. Quite a difference from a couple years ago when I had 22 builds.
Very nice work, Charles. I think the N is the best looking of the P-40’s, kind of rangy looking.
Very nice—I’m begining to discover just how colorful P-40 schemes were. They rival any other Allied a/c as far as camo and markings…
Thanks, all.
Marc: I know what you mean. My most in a year was 12, but these days 5 or 6 is a full year. I guess that’s what 3 kids and a mortgage can bring!
John: The N definately looks “hefty” and mayebe even powerful, but I haveto admit that I like the earlier, sleeker nose designs of the B and C variants. That being said, there just no such thing as a bad looking P-40!!
Manny: You’re not kidding. The P-40 served in (I think) all theaters in WWII and have some cool markings. Have you seen the all black “Stud” P-40F with the red nose…cool! My next P-40 will be another N variant the the CBI “Skull” markings.
Very nice , clean Build. Thanks for sharing.
Regards, Rick
Wow, what a sharp, clean, detailed paint job! Looking sharp [Y]
I have seen that one…there were also a lot of these used in the African and Italian theatre for recon purposes—just bought a decal sheet based on a plane they dug out of the sand near Sicily a few yrs ago—very cool markings. I also like the New Zealand marked ones…
Charles…what can I say…another great looking P-40…you like those P-40’s like I like floatie thingies…!!
Great job on the paint scheme…not the ordinary…(like something I would do)…[;)]
The photography is really good too…it really brings out the build…congrats park it next to the others proudly.

Very nice! I like colorful schemes. Paint looks great.

Thanks, Carlos! I forgot to mention my new camera! I finally wentthe DSLR route with an entry level Olympus E-520. I’m still getting used to it but I’m motived and it’s great so far!
Charles, try to shoot at the highest f-stop you can and use a tripod. You will get better depth of field and that brings more of the airplane in to sharp focus. But the pictures are looking good already.
Much appreciated and good advice, John! I used a tri-pod for these shots, but on “Auto” settings and canceled flash. I will shoot my next build in the “Aperature Priority” mode with the highest F-stop. Believe it or not I’m actually picking up on the lingo!!!
I’m looking forward to using the camera at the Air Force Museum and Thunder over Michigan later this year. I’ve already tried her out at various sights around Washington DC. “Photography” is becoming a fun second hobby…
