I am looking for a KC-135 (or a 707) in 1/48th scale. I can find them in 1/72, but since I’m used to building 1/35 trucks… 1/72 is something I’m afraid of. I would prefer to have the kit out of the box as a tanker, but I can scratch build the boom and boomer area.
This will be my first aircraft, which I want to scratch build open cowlings and complete wheel wells. I am also considering doing a complete interior with open cargo door, wing access doors. I was hoping to find a tow tractor, (b450), Cargo door scafolding, etc.
sorry but it looks like you will be having to scratch build everything. as far as i know there never has been a 1/48th kit of a KC, or a 707 / 720, your best bet would be to try and get hold of a travel agency model of a boeing 720 in the right scale, this aircraft is smaller than the 707 and if i am right (not often LoL) is what the KC135 was based on.
First of all, [#welcome]to the Forum! Now, I can’t say for sure but I believe there was a 48 scale vacform produced at one point by either ID Models or Transport Wings, both British copmanies, back in the 90s. Keep in mind kits by these people were very basic and left one with a lot of scratchbuilding to do. So, if you happen to find one, you are in for a lot of work. Good hunting.
