For the past six or seven months, rumors have been floating around about a new tool 1/48 F1M Pete. Well, rumor no more my friends! On J-Aircraft, one of the guys spied an ad in Model Art for a new tool 1/48 Pete, due in Japan in Feb 2009. Like the Nick, it looks like it will include some sort of vehicle…a tractor maybe? Either way, time to celebrate!!![party][#toast][8-]
For those of you that don’t know what this bird looks like:
Now all we need is for the other half of the rumor to also be true - a 1/48 NT Jake would be great. I’d love to see this be the start of a new line of great japanese aircraft.
I just picked up one from Fujimi, in 1/72nd scale, on my trip to Japan this past summer. I stood there with it in my hands wishing it was in 1/48. Then I thought that no one would produce it in 1/48, so I bought it. Well, it doesn’t matter… I’ll buy the new one too!
Well sheesh! Thanks a lot! I didn’t know what a “Pete” was until I looked at the video link. Now I gotta have it!! How am I going to explain this to my wife???[:-^]
Im with the rest of you, that is a ‘Must have’ for sure. The CG was superb as well. I was convinced it was a large scale rc plane untill it landed. Whoever did that is a God in my eyes.
I have been so miffed by Hasa this year. The only model zero I don’t have a model of is the A6M7. So of course they announce one in 1/48! Then they put out 2 great Ki-100s in 1/48. Then this Pete, and now the jet version of the Shinden… ALL IN 1/48! arrrggg. Can’t us 1/72 addicts get any love? Then again, there were those 2 huge flying boats…
Sounds neat, but I think I’ll stick with the old Tamiya 1/50th kit for now.
And yes, the video is super-cool! I thought it was a reenactment at first, then maybe an RC model. I think I saw that through the Nihon Kaigun website, and learned that it was a really well-done piece of CGI. It really does look like old color footage, doesn’t it?
