1/48 Eduard P-400 "Pat Wahl Eye II" Lt Eugene Wahl, 39th FS, 35th FG Twelve Mile Aerodrome, New Guinea

Eduard’s P-400’s and P-39’s are a bit of a mixed bag, I have found the wing root fits on both are really bad fits and require plasticard and filler to close the gaps. The colour call out on the instructions for this one is way out, calling for the bright blue that is on the spinner to be used underside, and top colours are wrong to, so I used Google to look up some images and guesstimated it.

It is amazing that this specific aircraft has several different finished looks to it, (including antenna wire lay outs, I saw 2 different set ups and one that had none), so I just chose what I thought.

I used a mixed range of paints on this, Italeri acrylic Flat Sky underneath, Gunze dark green and Tamiya flat earth on top camo. Other paints used, Vallejo acrylic, Vallejo metal colours, some pigment on the exhausts, and underneath, Flory dark dirt wash and I tried using a silver metallic pencil for the first time for some chipping. Vallejo Matt Acrylic varnish for final coat.

Looks great.
