1/48 Dragon Me 262 Mistel

I finished the Dragon Me 262 Mistel today. This was the first time that I tried adding micro solder and copper wire for anything other than brake lines.

Since this was not an operational aircraft, I took liberty with the paint scheme. I didn’t care for the ones with the kit, so I painted it to represent a plane that had the nose cannon package replaced. The paint is Model Master, sprayed freehand. The majority of the “control” aircraft was given Testors Dullcoat, with the nose receiving Metalizer Sealer for a semi-gloss appearance.

The “bomb” aircraft is painted in Alcad II Aluminum, Duraluminum, and Dark Aluminum. The seams are Model Master Neutral Gray, applied with a #000 brush. Some panels also received Dullcoat to further differentiate the panels.

Hope you like it (them?), and thanks for letting me share it with you !

I added the hydraulic lines with micro solder.

I spent five hours one Saturday afternoon wiring the instrument panel with copper wire, painted yellow.

Very impressive, thanks for sharing.

That is amazing stuff Pix… I really like the all metal 262…give yourself a pat on the back!!

Well done Pix[bow][bow][bow] I am a 262 fan and I like what you did in the cockpit and the wheel wells[:D] It sure looks good.

Richard

Beautiful job, Pix!!!

In the “Night before Christmas”, there were “visions of sugarplums dancing in the children’s heads”… I bet you have visions of Me-262 Squadrons in your head, don’t you?

Thanks for sharing such a unique aircraft!
Take care,
Frank

That is beautiful, Pix!

The details and painting are topnotch work. What do you use for antenna line?

Regards, Dan

great work. love the cockpit

That is some really nice work. You should be starting to run out of conventional 262 projects so I thought I might suggest a few possibles like this one … http://www.antaresmodels.com:90/IMAGES/ANT-04.jpg
or this one would be cool to see you build … http://www.antaresmodels.com:90/IMAGES/Mvc-769f22.jpg

ownz!!! first model i am going to get after the omni: this one. i built 4 dragon 262’s but not as a mistle before

Another great build. The bomb AC is particularly interesting, as is the added wire detail. How will it fit on a display shelf, as it’s got to be really tall. Really enjoyed seeing it, thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much, John, fightinjoe, Dave, Jeeves, Richard, Frank, Dan, ghettochild, Swanny, 1337, and Rick ! This really was a pleasurable build.

Frank - funny you should mention Christmas. I was thinking of o “punny” title for this post, and I almost used, “Don’t Stand Under This Misteltoe !”

Dan - the antenna is 2lb. test fishing line, painted.

Swanny - I’ve been looking at that site for a while now. I love those swept wings & buried engines, and the one with the pulse jets (Lorin) is also VERY interesting. I kinda built this one to test my idea for a NMF Me 262 (W. Nr. 111711) for the different shades & putty lines.

1337 - this kit was released around Christmas time, and at under $40, its a great deal.

Rick - its sitting atop one of my speakers, along with two more Me 262s & an FW 190A-8. Pleanty of headroom there !

Thanks again, everyone ! Your kind words are greatly appreciated !

jeez Pix…what a beautiful piece of work! The undercarriage detail is awesome. So’s the paintjob…thanks for sharing with us…
regards,
Sam

Pix, another outstanding build of an unusual Luftwaffe subject. Thanks for sharing another build with us.

Really incredible looking build. Great job!

looks great now what are you going to do for an encore? [(-D]
Jason

Thanks Sam, Keyworth, magic, & Jason !

Jason - my next build (which I’ve already started) is the 1/24 Trumpeter A6M2-N Rufe (Zero floatplane). I’m also thinking of a Hasegawa Ar 234B-2 w/ Verlinden set, Eduard Profi-pack Bell P-39Q, Accurate Miniatures TBM-3 w/Eduard PE, and Hasegawa B6N2 “Jill” w/Eduard PE, all 1/48. I may build one, some, or all of these with the Rufe. Sometimes, its difficult to decide, so I build them all.

Thanks again, I’m glad you enjoyed this very different Luftwaffe bird !

As always Pix, magnificent! A very interesting subject, executed brilliantly. Good work on the wiring and plumbing!

How’s the big Rufe going?
I’ve seen Trump’s big 1/24 Spitfire floatplane here recently. Will you be adding that to your giant floatplane collection, too?

excellent job always a pleasure checking out your projects[bow]
