1:48 Custom Grumman Goose Diorama "The Adventures of Caribbean Jack"

Here is the Lindberg Goose kit, motorized with 3 bladed props taking off from the water.
Goose and graphics are airbrushed in Tamiya paints, engines motorized with mini motors, and that dreaded nose cleat re-fabricated to scale instead of looking like something from an aircraft carrier.

Build depicted coming up “on step” with flaps 30 degrees and some right aileron to counter the torque. Base done with Crystal Clear epoxy and swells created using UV epoxy over a small piece of plastic covered PVC pipe to form the curves. Woodland Scenics water effects also used along the sides of the fuselage.

“The Adventures of Caribbean Jack” were airbrushed on via temple I created. Same goes for the nose logo and N-Number.

Curved waves created using UV epoxy resin spread over a plastic covered PVC pipe and then cured with UV penlight. Resin then separates from the plastic and gives the waves effect that can be attached to the existing resin.

This was a valiant effort but not very viewable once the windscreen is installed. Still a necessity because without it you can see straight back into the hollow cabin.

One has to have a pilot for this bird. Here is Caribbean Jack, a modified 1:48 Luftwaffe Commander figure, held in with his harnesses made from the finest Tobago weaved burlap, hand up high for the power levers.

Outstanding!
Remember “Tales of the Gold Monkey”?

Thanks :slightly_smiling_face:
Yes I do! And there is a book out called “Chasing Latitudes” that uses a Goose. This name seemed befitting since it is mine and I live in S. Florida

Nicely done. I do love a goose and have one in the stash. Great water effects.

Beautifully done! I recently got my hands on the Signifier 1/48 Goose and this is inspiring. I’m not much of a diorama builder (never done one), but this gives me ideas.

I actually have that entire DVD set! Trying to decide whether to rip the episodes to watch on a big trip planned in July, or just watch at home. I was very young when the show came on, but ever since I first saw it, I wanted a Goose - 1:1 scale! It’s not realistic any more unless somehow the lottery finds me, but it’s always been a plane I’ve loved.

That’s a super cool diorama. The water,:ok_hand:. As soon as I saw it, I thought of Jimmy Buffett. Thanks for posting it.

Excellent work on this diorama. The Goose turned out great and your water/wake looks so realistic.

I agree with the previous comments. Great work! What kind of trouble is Jack up to?

Runnin’ Rum and bootleg Kava

I’ll tell ya Tom, the water effects are really easy to make. I’m sold on the UV Resin that I used for the curled wake.

Yeah, I always thought it would be cool to build that Goose, too.
