'Nite,
A little update, with the beginning of the landing gear work-on, detailed with PE parts and strtched sprue for wires

I am afraid the PE might weaken the sub-assembly, which will suffer heavy duty carrying the heavy model kit… I’m thinking of a way to strengthen all that.
Best regards
Richard
I saw someone put aluminum or brass tubing inside the gear itself… however it looks to be a little late for that[oops]
hm I didn’t think about the PE weakening it. Thankfully I didn’t use any of the PE from the Eduard set on my BONE’s gear, so it should be alright structurally… However it looks good and I can’t wait to see the gear all painted and assembled!
Hi all,
I got started with the paint. I applied a light grey primer overall, and a matt black one on the upper wings to retain the walkways out of that layer hiding em with tape.I also added the last details (antennas…)
pics as of now
details and paintshop preparation

above paint (primers)

know the box ? enjoy the size!
first gunship grey layer, out of paint bombs from the Tamyia range

I will airbrush the upper fuselage, and weather the under too.
more to come !
Cheers,
Richard
Hi Richard, I want to let you know that I appreciate seeing your progress and look forward to it in fact, as I may build this kit next. I’m building the 1/72 B36 right now and have not been terribly motivated lately. That may take me into the summer. Anyhow nice work.
Excellent work!
I’m working on my own version as we speak. Tried to duplicate the NEW style bomb racks as most B1B’s have now but way too complicated to reproduce and few pics available!
Do you have any pictures of the bomb racks as you built them?! Can’t find any that show the details.
If you can help that would be great! I’ll post some pics of my B1B when I get it finished. Opened the crew hatches and put in a complete interior. Lots of work and still in progress.
Again…Excellent job!
I’m really enjoying seeing your progress on this monster. I just finished the camouflage on mine yesterday, but I’ll probably end up finishing it after you complete yours, as you seem to be a fast builder… either that or I’m slow[:)]. Can’t wait to see more photos!
Hi,
After the Tamiya TS48 bottles were empty for the sole undersurfaces, I found the color was too dark. I decided to mix Humbrol ref 125 with white ref 34 (ratio 75/25) and I was done with the good color (to me) for FS 36118 Gunship Grey !

The table diameter is 110 cm…
On the pix, the strips of tape were removed, they stand for the walkways. Beware if you wish to apply these by Revell, on the kit notice, their place on the wing is wrong.
4 full cups of Humbrol were necessary to wrap the Bone around ! 3x ref 125 1x ref 34.
Cheers
Richard
No doubt, that beast is coming along real well. I find your attention to detail to be most impressive. Please keep the updates coming.
Hi,
To start a little useful tip for airbrushing with having to hide a side of the parts, there being bombays doors and landing gear doors :

waved iron wire, modelling tape… that’s all, so easy and helpful !

Impressive work!! [bow][bow]
Hi all,
Just like I said in the updated title of my topic, I am done with this huge kit !
Here we go :
Got the scale ? Fine, huh …

Bone flies by !

I hope you enjoy !
Your turn now… Let me know…
Best regards,
Richard
Simply awesome! How’d you get clear canopies? mine’s tinted smoke!
Hi RadMax,
Thanks !
The clear canopy comes fromthe flashlight cos indeed it is tinted smoke
Cheers,
Richard
Looks great! Wouldn’t mind building this big girl some day myself.
Richard,
Your work is superb! The level of detail is simply breathtaking, and I can only hope that my Bone looks 1/10 as good as yours! Thanks for sharing and giving me something to shoot for (when I work up the intestinal fortitude to tackle that monster)!
Brian [bow][bow][bow]
She’s a beauty! Now I’ve got two problems; 1) I’m really going to have to work at it to bring my Bone up to the level of this one, and 2) where am I going to put it once its done? I knew it was a big kit, but geeze! Seeing it all put together really drives that fact home.
When the Bone is parked on the ramp, do they swing the wings back? I think that would make for a little easier display on my shelves. Otherwise, I may have to hang this beast from the ceiling when I tackle it.
Thanks for setting the bar nice and high for the rest of us, Richard! Beautiful work.
Hey !
I thank you all for your comments !
Here are some more pics I shot this afternoon

I was glad to show you round my Bone ! How do you feel about it ?
I will send some pics in an other topic dealing with the base of that B-1B, where I will add some vehicles (partially scratched MJ40 USAF weapon loader, a scratchbuilt JDAM trailor, and a desert sand Humvee, with ground mechanics)
Cheers,
Richard
Richard,
[wow] Absolutely magnificent! The level of detail is simply astounding! You really should write this one up for FSM and join Darwin as a “published modeler”. This is one of the finest examples of modelling i have ever had the privilege of seeing! Bravo!!!
Brian [bow][bow][bow]
Can’t wait to see the vehicles added as I want to build a diorama of a BONE on the ground…
