I rarely check posts on modern aircraft, as my main interest in WWII, but this is an amazing build. The sheer size is a show stopper, but adding lights will definitely make this pop. Your attention to detail is to be commended. The sanding alone would make me pull my hair out! This is a huge, daunting project, but is certainly coming along well in your capable hands. Good luck in the show. This will certainly be an attention grabber.
Yes it does, the pylon in the set is actually for an F-15 but it provides a good base to use for modding which im in the middle of at the moment. There used to be a guy who made a resin set of the sniper pod and the correct pylon but hes been out of bussines for a couple years now.
Wow. This build brings back many memories of my B-1B that was built about 6 years ago for a group build in this forum. Many similarities; extensive aftermarket, even looks like you chose the same pilot figure in a ladder climbing pose. You planning to scratch build bomb racks and rotary for the JDAMs? I’m enjoying your post and look forward to more.

B1, I’m very impressed with the lighting and filling/sanding. This will be an impressive build when completed.
I’m not a huge fan of modern aircraft but I’ll be watching this with interest.

Wow, this is insanely cool.

Looking good ! Is ruptured duck the wing Kings jet now days ?
I think ive read your thread before in the past when gearing up to do this build. Was very impressive and it showed me some things to look out for going into the build.
And yes i am planning on scratch building at least 1 10 by bomb rack to put in the forward bay and also doing some work to the kit rotary launchers for the JDAM’s.
Thank you for your reply

Thank you all for all your replies on this post, and for letting me know that you are following. The next update should be coming up soon as im just finishing up on the Sniper Pod pylon and i finished the other 2 exhaust and also weathered the burner cans. Im now just starting on the filling and sanding of the nose.
Once again, Thank you all.

Nicw build! I LIKE the Turkey farther thrust deflectors.Might want to dry brush clear blue and clear red to replicate the various tones.
The exhaust i actually made on complete accident when i was experimenting with ways to get the blue burn marks on the exhaust.
Will have to try out the dry brushing. I kept with blue just because of the scale and i didnt have the greatest ability to make thin enough lines with the airbrush to do both orange and blue but didnt think about dry brushing.

Haven’t posted on the build, but have been keeping an eye on it. Impressive work on that monster. Saw the one they hauled up I-5 a few years ago that went to the Boeing Museum. Wifemate couldn’t believe they would haul that thing up the freeway (but could only move at night and had to find a place to hole up during daylight).
Also filed away the slick tutorial on your exhaust cans.
This is a staggering amount of work and really exciting to follow. Seriously impressive!
Thank you,
I didnt know they moved one to the boeing museum but it doesnt surprise me the way they had to move it. Even the display B-1 they have at the museum right off base they had to tow on the roads from base to the museum and there are some interesting pictures of that.
And thank you for the reply about the exhaust. Like i said in a previous reply i came accross the tecnique by accident but am really happy the way it came out. Will be swaping some pictures in the post soon as ive been getting some better ones.
Thanks again

Yes it is but the posts still dont give it justice.
Thank you for the reply

Yes, awesome exhaust tut. It looks like there were different shades of blue inside the can on your tut. Was that just the lighting, the different textures inside the mold or did you intentionally paint the sections a different shade? Looks cool whatever the reason.
I have a few pics of a Bone myself. I took them a couple years ago at an airshow at Mountain Home AFB in Idaho.
Thank you, I believe the different shades is just from the lighting. I used the same color on the inside as i did on the outside.

So, the sandind and filling STILL CONTINUES!
Im finally adding final sanding to the front fuselage seam and i hope to throw some primer on it this weekend and im praying there isnt a seam. Its a little wavey in the corners but i was planning on adding some skin stress wrippling in that area anyway so it should help with the effect.
Also i added some Milliput to the nose area to help with the big step i was getting on the sides. I thought i was the only one with this issue but after consulting with my 2 friends who are building one along side me they said they also had that issue. I wish i would have know about Milliput or Tamiya polyester putty sooner, would have really helped make the sanding and filling sessions on the nacelles intakes shorter and less of a nuisance.
I also ended up adding some to the bottom of the tail because after i went over it with some black and finding i still had a step on one side.
Also working with the tail, ive started filing thr seams on the tail radomes and also the gaps i had around the aftermarket antenna and TDS (Tow Decooy System) pods. The tail looks like an absolute mess.
I also started filling the patch i had to cut out to get to the red position light in front of the left nacelle. It should just need one more round of filler and then it should be done. But knowing my luck it wont.
To get away from filling and sanding, filling and sanding, filling and sanding, you see how repetive this is? Its making me go crazy.
But i finished my modding to the Pylon for the sniper pod and i think it looks great! just need to add panels and figure out how i want to do the top piece where it pivots.
Also finished the other set exhuast and even painted and weathered the burner cans (picture not included) and this really adds to its look. Honestly i cant stop looking at how awesome it looks.
I also built up one side of the metal landing gear and quickly build up one of the JDAMs in the Hasegawa set. I really like the way these look and i will be making resin casts of these to fill up my weapons bays.
Thats all for now! Thank you all for your comments and support, it really helps me keep going with this build.
