1/48 B-17E Coastal Command project update - more pictures

After three days of decaling - lots of little stencils - all decals are now in place. The sealing coat of Future still has to go on then the weathering will begin and the final dull coat will be Polly Scale clear flat.

And here are the views for the waist gun positions. The guns will be installed last along with the propellers and tail guns.

I know that I’ve posted this plenty already but for you folks that are just seeing this you can follow the complete construction on my site.
Enjoy![8D]

sweet build so far, it looks great [:D]
jim

looks great
i think im alone on here by saying that the B17 looks best in that camo[4:-)]

What a difference, it’s not yet another olive or aluminium B17. well done, Swanny, it’s looking good.
You’re not alone, Captain Caveman!

Looks good so where’s mine?, what brand of paint are you using? is it Testors MM or ?

very nice I agree on the camo.If I were to do one it will be that
scheme.

Woooah, nice job!!

I agree with Capt Caveman & Albert! I was beginning to think there were either (1) no photo’s available of a B-17 in any other scheme, or (2) there was some kind of tradition which frowned upon building any other scheme. [;)]

Great job Swanny!

Excellent work, swanny! Hey, didn’t you say that this was a conversion? did you scratch build the remotly controlled power belly turret and the 4 little windows farther aft of it? Can’t wait to see it when it’s done! hey, how do you detail the engine? (little wires, etc… or just paint?)

Cuda, the interior is done mostly with Model Master enamels, the exterior was primed with Model Master primer gray enamel cut 30% with lacquer thinner to give it a good bite. The color coats are all Polly Scale acrylics thinned with Windex. There are also some Gunze-Sangyo acrylics scattered around in places.

Shrikes, This is a Paragon resin conversion which includes the nose piece, propeller blades, belly turret and belly sighting blister. It also includes replacement engine cowlings and gun barrels. The four small windows are all scratch built.

As far as the engines go those are all painted. Those are the stock kit engines which I attached to toothpicks for the painting process then superglued into the new resin engine cowlings.

Thanks to all of you for your kind comments, this is what keeps me motivated to get projects like this complete.

Swanny, that’s really looking good.
As I said last time, that camo scheme is excellent!
